"Shh shh. It's going to be okay. It's gonna be okay." I said softly and calmly to Adam, who has been crying for nearly half an hour. George had just left for the shop and I think Adam missed his daddy. "Please stop crying, honey. Daddy will be home tonight. Okay? You'll see him soon." I promised my child.
After a while of me trying to soothe Adam, he finally calmed down enough for me to go answer the phone that had just started ringing. I put Adam in his crib and ran to the phone just as it ringed for the seventh time. I brought the phone to my ear. "Hello?" I asked breathlessly.
There was crying on the other side. "Le-Lexi. Lee-Lee-Lee left me for some Veela!" Angelina sobbed. I felt a bubble of anger building up inside me. How dare Lee leave her? She was so happy when he had asked her out, I should now, she called me at two in the morning to tell me all about it. Yes, Lee is my friend but when you break up with my best friend, then I'm gonna be pissed. Wouldn't you feel the same way?
"What? When did this happen?" I asked Angelina.
"Earlier today." She continued to cry like this for another twenty minutes.
"Well, why don't you and Lee come on over for dinner. I'll get George to talk to him and try to make him change his mind or something. Okay? Does that sound like a plan?" I suggested. Angelina gained control of herself and agreed to come to dinner as long as Lee doesn't bring that 'veela bitch'.
I sighed and ran a hand through my long brown hair. I felt really bad for my friend. Maybe that veela seduced Lee and made him fall in love with her. Because I know that he really does like her.
-------------------
"Angelina, I still care for you but..." Lee looked over at the beautiful blonde veela that was seated next to him, and smiled at her. Apparently Lee brought his new girlfriend. Angelina took one look at her and hasn't spoken a word. I had her sit in between George and me.
I heard George mumble a string of swear words. Angelina's eyes widened a little at hearing all those words that George had invented. I don't know why, but ever since George came home, he's been mad at every little thing. I swear it's like he's on his man period and is super moody and grumpy.
"George, are you okay?" I asked kindly.
"Yes, I'm okay! Alright?" He said loudly, throwing his hands up in the hair. Poor Angelina flinched. She then stood up, saying she had to use the restroom. The table was silent when she left. Lee and the veela, Brooke, stood up.
"It was nice seeing you, mate." Lee said to George, who was glaring at his cup full of Butterbeer. Lee then turned to me. "Nice seeing you too, Lexi. Adam's gonna be a trouble maker. I just know it. Tell Angelina I'm sorry for me, okay?" I nodded my head and smiled at them as they left. I heard a faint crack outside of the door.
We sat in silence for another ten minutes when I decided to go check on Angelina. I knocked on the bathroom door. When I didn't hear a reply, I went in. Angelina was on the floor, crying her eyes out. I bent down and sat beside her, wrapping my arms around her.
--------------------
I led Angelina out of the bathroom, for we had spent almost an hour in there talking about how Lee was an asshole and stuff.
George was sitting right where I left him, except his food was gone. "Bye, Angelina. Be strong." I whispered in my best friends ear as we hugged.
"I'm going home and then I'm gonna be drinking Firewhiskey. Bye, George." She called to my husband, who just grunted in response. Angelina left and I quickly cleaned up the table.
"What's wrong with you?" I asked George, who had stood up now.
"Nothing." He said with an attitude.
I sighed. "George, somethings wro-"
"I said nothings wrong. Okay? It's just...another joke shop started up beside ours and the guy is a total git and I really don't like him." George explained. I shook my head.
"Yeah, well that's no reason to act like a dick." I raised my voice. "Competition is just stupid You're just worried that this guy is gonna be better then you and-"
"Shut up." George said quietly. "Okay? Just shut up. I can't listen to you anymore." He then started walking to the living room, but I wasn't finished.
"Then leave."
He turned around. "What?"
"Then leave." I said again.
"Fine. I will." He turned around and apparated, leaving me alone in the room.
