He leaned his head into my neck and I held onto him.
I thought my life was bad, yet I still had my grandmother to look after me. I went to a good school and I lived in a decent place. Hearing Zayn's story made me fully realize how lucky I was in the first place and it brought even more tears to my eyes.
I lifted Zayn's head up and wiped away his tears before they could fall. I couldn't imagine how he felt, he pretty much watched his mother die and he couldn't do anything about it.
I pressed my lips against his and my heart beat sped up almost instantly.
I slowly moved my lips and Zayn followed, as if he was asking for permission to enter. I opened my mouth a little wider and his mouth moved against mine.
He ran his tongue over my bottom lip causing me to shiver with adrenaline. His tongue moved with mine and suddenly everything felt natural.
I had only kissed a couple boys till that point but when I kissed Zayn, it felt as if nothing else in the world mattered. It was just me and Zayn and for the few minutes that the kiss lasted, I completely forgot about my problems.
We pulled away and I climbed back over the middle to sit back in the passenger seat.
"You okay?" I asked him once and he nodded and started the car.
He reached across the middle of the car and held my hand. Even this simple gesture brought butterflies to my stomach and I have his hand a reassuring squeeze.

"Where are we going?" We had been in the car for two and a half hours.
We sung along to the radio the entire time and it felt good to be so carefree.
"New York, I don't know exactly what to do just yet but that's the best place to go right now" his eyes flicked to me and he smiled.
My heart fluttered in my chest, I was finally going home.
"Can I borrow your phone to call my grandma?" He handed me his phone and I quickly dialed the number.
After two rings, I heard a voice at the other end of the phone.
"Hello?" Her voice was hoarse and exhausted.
"Grandma?"
"Zara? Where are you? I was going crazy looking for you! Where have you been?" Her voice suddenly picked up and I could almost feel her energy at the other end of the phone.
"I'm on my way home, I'll explain when I get back" tears welled in my eyes.
"Are you okay?" She asked with concern clear in her voice.
"Yeah I'm fine! I'm-" I heard the line go dead and I looked at the phone.
"What happened?" Zayn looked at the phone.
"I don't know, she just hung up on me I guess." I shrugged and handed Zayn his phone back.
"I think we're gonna have to take a longer route, Vince's men would go to New York first to look for us, it's better if they get there before us so it's safer." I nodded and leaned my head back.
I closed my eyes and imagined what it would be like to finally go home. At least my grandmother knew I was okay now, maybe everything would go back to the way it was.

I woke up and rubbed my eyes. I didn't remember falling asleep and I looked at the dashboard. It was already 7:46. I was starving and I had to pee really badly.
