"Beck!" Candene screamed through the corridor, as she immediately skipped down towards me ,and before i could even respond; tightly wrapped her arms around my thin frame, and squeezed me. I stood there obediently allowing her to hug me for a second or two, before carefully unveiling her arms from around me.
Candene was one of my best friends and we had been best friends since year seven, but by now were in year ten. She was quite short at around 5'4 (although i'm only 5'2) with long dirty blonde hair, which she would always joke was "clean brunette" , she had quite a plump figure which she would often joke around about, although i knew she was secretly insecure about her weight.
"Hello?" she mocked as she waved her hand in front of my face, confused i stood back - until i realised i had accidentally bumped into someone. Immediately i turned around to apologise, that was until i realised who it was. His dark, curly hair bounced from shock as we exchanged looks, before abruptly heading off in the opposite direction, walking almost as if he was disorientated; clumsily placing one foot in front of the other. Hesitant, i turned back around to Candene - who's face was desperately trying to hide a smirk
"ex..." she whispered ,beginning to giggle. Jokingly I hit her on the arm.
"shut up" i laughed before she replied with "-this is abuse, Beck!" now obnoxiously laughing together.
"BOO!" screamed a recognisable voice from behind, placing their hand's on both mine , and Candene's shoulders. We both shrieked, and turned to discover savannah behind us. Savannah was much taller than both of us at 5'9 and possessed long dark curly hair which she would struggle to tame, evident by her messy bun, which she routinely wore alongside her thick american accent, that most definitely did not fit in with all our english accents.
Unable to contain herself Candene yelped "We saw Aiden!" grabbing both of savannah's hands and staring right into her face to watch her reaction.
"eugh, okay..." she frowned before turning to me.
"I thought you said you were going to avoid him Beck?",
"I was!" i protested, though it was evident Savannah didn't believe me, rolling her eyes.
"i promise i am, i just accidentally bumped into him" ,
"-accidently" Candene laughed ,using her fingers to quote me. Calming Candene down, savannah passed her some gum before we all began walking over to our bench.
"Beck, i can't believe you lead him on like that though", savannah exclaimed.
"but i didn't?" i argued. It was clear savannah was on Aiden's side though she disliked him.
"Do you like him?" she asked raising an eyebrow.
"no..." i answered.
"So you were leading him on. Come on Beck what was the point of that?"
"i thought i liked him" i honestly admitted.
"thought?" she paused, taking a deep breath and rolling her eyes at me.
"Beck, you can't go out with someone ,and then dump them the next day after realising you didn't actually like him" she explained. I knew she was right, but i didn't know what to say so silently sat there.
"i think she still likes him..." whispered Candene.
"Do you?" asked Savannah
Unsure, i casually shrugged my shoulders.
"You're so confused" stated Candene towards me, before shoving another piece of strawberry gum into her mouth. She then began counting on her fingers and stopped at nine to show me.
Savannah shook her head "wow nine Beck, you really are confused..." she giggled.

The bell rang, and the hallway echoed with student's sighing as they left their friends to head to their classes. Quickly, i gathered all my books and prepared to pursue the sea of students ahead.
Cautiously, I attempted to swerve around, and avoid contact with everyone - Bumping into someone in my school never ended well. The crowd got busier and more cramped, the deeper i got in. BAM, all students looked to the source of the noise (which happened to be on the floor), and roared with laughter at the year 7, embarrassed on the ground, and his books scattered and lost among the crowd's feet. Walking past, I helped him gather two of his english books that were still on the floor, thankfully smiling as i handed them over to him. Suddenly the second bell rang- and i knew i was late. Again... In Mr. Collin's class, so screwed.
Finally getting to the classroom, two beady brown eyes stared at me -smirking as i stood at the old frame of the door. Before i could walk through ,and receive the great lecture that Mr. Collins would've presented me with, on " The importance of being on time to class", his hand shot straight up and Mr. Collins walked towards him. I made my way to my seat, late and thankfully unnoticed. As Mr. Collins Returned to the front of the class, and cleared his throat. I turned to my left , to see his beady brown eyes winking at me as I gratefully mouthed "Thanks" across the room to him.
We hadn't been the closest of friends, but we were close enough, and all our friends got on well. I first met him two years ago when i moved into his class, and he was pretty much the same; confident, sharp and sarcastic. Although, now he started to blend in more with the more popular crowd and now carried this rough aura around him. Yet i still looked to him as a sweetheart. Maybe a bit too much, as you can probably guess he was one of the nine...
