My eyes shot open after I heard a collapse downstairs. I jumped from my bed and ran downstairs to see what was going on.

I hid around the door frame and to my surprise, chuckled. I chuckled... Just staring at the horrendous mess my so called mother could make while attempting the cook pancakes "like a pro" as she says.

"Don't laugh at me missy, or else you won't get to taste my delicious pancakes!" My mother said sweetly, trying hard to cover her sarcasm.

" I am sure they taste um... disgusting?" We laughed together before I headed back upstairs to get ready for school. Being the one and only Rosie Johnson, I was always the girl who arrived to class first, nothing was ever going to change. To be honest, my past school years had not entirely been the best ones, I was know as the 'smartass' by the 'popular' kids, but then I always referred to them as the 'dumbasses'  and all I wanted was to get a decent grades.

As I got into my car, I thought that I could make a new start, you know, a 17 year old girl need to really find out what she wants to do with her life. As I drove through the car park gates, I saw everything was exactly the same, I figured nothing would ever change around here.. urgh! I parked up and got out my glasses from the back seat and placed them neatly on my head before heading towards the entrance of the huge building. "ROSIE!!" A loud voice bellowed from the top of the corridor. Scarlett was my best friend and the only girl who was smart and popular with everyone. I was so jealous of her at times, her skinny figure and her long brunette hair and perfectly outlined face that got all the boys drooling. " So how was your weekend honey?" I knew she had some gossip for me, and as she started to tell me all of what she'd done, Tom came up from behind her and started to nozzle her neck. " Ewww, not attractive bro" I pretended to puke and cover my eyes and they laughed at my gesture. Tom was my brother, and a best friend to me, I was so lucky to have both Scarlett and Tom. The only real reason I asked about Scarlett's weekend was because her and Tom had just spent a romantic weekend in Venice celebrating their 1 year anniversary. " Dude, don't sweat, just promise me you'll get  life?" He smirked at me and the couple walked off laughing and joking as I heard Scarlett's laugh get further away up the corridor. I stood there alone in the corridor, unsure of what to do with myself. Suddenly, I was knocked and found myself picking up my books before a husky voice said "let me do it." I stood up, surprised by his arrogance. The boy stood up and handed me my books before walking away from me speedily. Fine then, don't apologise... people these days! I decided to head for class and realised my life couldn't possibly get any better, only worse.

Maths at the beginning of the end of the week always seemed to be challenging, my teacher was ace, he really understood me and tried to challenge me as much as possible. First person in the classroom as always, before a familiar boy who was in face the boy who nearly knocked me out earlier entered the class and looked up to smirk at me, before, I realised that I was staring directly at him. He pondered over and took a seat beside me, " of all places being empty, you had to come and sit next to me?" I was more surprised than annoyed, surprised because I always sat alone and annoyed because I didn't want any distractions. " Ooooo I see I am meeting a pure nerd, how about you teach me a few things?" he spoke cheekily, winking as he said it. This suddenly brought my attention closer to hi facial features. For an extremely good looking guy, brunette choppy hair, a husky low voice, muscly on so many levels with a sharp facial structure, I was surprised he could be such an idiot.

 "Whats your name?" he inquired.

"Rosie, why? So you can mock me like most people do?" I gave him a scowl.

"Woahh, don't worry, was just asking! Im alex by the way"

"Well, hi Alex, nice to meet you, but I don't want you distracting me.. alright?"

"urghh fine, your wish is my command babe"

What is it with boys calling girls "babe"? It makes girls sound like objects and I don't like all the lovey dovey shit that comes along with it. To be completely honest, he was very distracting, I kept gazing at him and pondering thoughts, although a couple of times, he noticed and winked at me. By the end of the lesson, everyone had left, and we were left alone... again.

"You might wanna take a picture, it will last longer." he smirked and chuckled.

"God your so full of yourself!" I replied hastily, trying to pack up quickly.

"You'd love my picture, you'd hang it up with the rest of your boy crushes"

I laughed at his cockiness and replied " if you saw what was hanging on my walls, I would dread to think what was hanging up on your wall... mate" I smirked and walked straight past him, pure shock spread across his face. I went to next lesson feeling great, as people say ' like i'd just kicked  ass'. The rest of the day was a normal school day and I headed towards my locker before heading home. Alex was leant against my locker, talking to some "populars". I decided to get my stuff from behind him until I heard him say bye to his mates and curse under his breath, I had obviously surprised him. "Bloody hell babe! you scared the living daylights outa me!"

"okay.. number one, I am NOT your 'babe' I hate being called that and you hardly know me, and two, you don't have any daylight inside of you,  daylight is what comes into your eyes so you can see things." Okay rant over, I slammed my locker and shouted " see you tomorrow!" I left him once again, stunned. This was just getting too easy, this guy needs to up his game if he is willing to challenge me.
