~Sukie's P.O.V~
"Sukie! Get your head out of your work and come over here! Jane and I are waiting for you!"
"Will you shut up, Alex! I'm almost done!"
Sitting in Alex's house, finishing my work while Alex is yelling at me isn't the easiest thing to do. She and Jane are in the living room eating pizza and drinking martinis. I was just sitting at the table writing an article about a car accident that happened earlier today.
"Sukie!" Alex whined again. I groaned and closed my notebook. I got up from the table and walked over to Alex and Jane. I slapped Alex on the head and grabbed some pizza.
"Ouch! Sukie you hit hard!" Alex yelled, holding her head.
"Next time let me finish my work. You know how important my job is," I told her, grabbing the drink pitcher and drinking out of it. I sat down in between Jane and Alex and pulled out a deck of cards. I started to shuffle them.
"Whataya wanna play?"
"Poker?" Jane suggested
"Egyptian Rummy!" Alex exclaimed.
"Egyptian Rummy it is," I said, moving in front of Jane and Alex.
"I always get hurt in this game," Jane said while taking a sip of her drink.
"I made a new rule: No rings on while we're playing," I said, passing out the card. I took off my rings and set them on the table behind me. I took Jane and Alex's and put on the table, too. I laid down my first card and watched Alex and Jane follow. Our little cycle continued for a bit until I laid down a card and was immediately slapped. I knew it was Alex by the long nails. We moved our hands and saw that I laid down a double. I passed the cards to Alex.
"And I'm the one who slaps hard!" I said, looking at my red hand. We continued for awhile, slapping hands, getting cut by Alex's nails and whining when we lost our best cards. Awhile later, Jane lost all her cards and was out. It was me against Alex. We went fast. I started slapping hard, making Alex's hand red. We both dove for a double, both slapping the cards. I pulled back my hand and yelled. I looked and saw that Alex's nails dug into my hand.
"Alex! Okay, new rule! Cut your nails before you play!" I exclaimed, looking at my bleeding hand. I laid down my last card and got up to clean off the blood.
"Sorry. I didn't think they were that long. I win by the way," Alex said, picking up the cards. She started to shuffling them and started to make a card house. I walked back over to them with a paper towel wrapped around my hand.
"It's not that they're long, you file them to a point and they are sharp!" I sat down beside Jane and grabbed the drink pitcher, drinking some. Jane and I watched Alex build the card house. I blew air to try and knock it down, but Alex picked up a slice of pizza and shoved it in my mouth.
"Don't destroy my artwork!" she yelled, continuing to build. I ate the pizza and got up to get another paper towel.
"Only if you agree to let me finish my work," I said, returning to the table to finish my news article. I heard Ale'x groan in annoyance but I ignored it. I finished writing the last two paragraphs of the article and put it in my bag.
"Alex. Do you have a band-aid?" I asked, walking over to them.
"Uh... Let me check. I might have gauze pads and medical tape," Alex said, getting up and walking to the bathroom. I sat down beside Jane again and drank more.
"Shh..." Jane whispered. She crawled over to Alex's card house and knocked it over.
"Jane!" I said. I heard Alex return and shut my mouth. Alex came back with a small First-Aid box and knelled beside me.
"I have some disinfecting stuff to clean it- WHO KNOCKED DOWN MY CARD HOUSE?!" She yelled, looking at the pile of cards. I pointed up at the ceiling to indicate that the fan was on. She groaned and took my hand. She sprayed the disinfecting stuff on it and I pulled it back instantly.
"Ouch! That shit hurts!" I yelled, blowing on my hand.
"Well I'm sorry!" She yelled back, grabbing it back and blowing on it. Jane climbed up on the couch and just watch, drinking more, feeling tired. Alex took a gauze pad and placed it on my cut and wrapped medical tape around it. She kissed the bandage, leaving her lip print on it in her pretty red lipstick.
"Better?" she asked.
"Yes, thank you," I said.
We both looked over and saw that Jane fell asleep on the couch with a martini glass in her hand. Alex laughed alittle and took the glass from her and put it in the sink. I scooted over and laid down on the floor. I saw Alex walk over and lay down beside me. I fell asleep instantly with Alex's head on my shoulder and Jane's hand hanging off the couch above my face.
