Frisk had finally done it. They had finally reached the end of their torturous journey.
As frisk walked, with knife in hand, down the dark, cold, corridor━images flooded their mind. Toriel screaming at them, "You really hate me that much?" with pain and grief in her eyes. Papyrus, with his mutilated head, using his very last breath to tell frisk he still believed in them. And sans. The pain and horror in sans' eyes when he realized what Frisk had done.
Frisk quickly shook these thoughts from their head. 'No time for thinking like that' frisk scolded themselves. Frisk looked around the dark room━searching for the person that the voice in Frisk's head belonged to.
The strange voice had stuck by Frisk ever since they killed their first monster. Ever since that first murder, the voice was always there, guiding them, telling them what to do. Even though the orders the voice would give them were often malicious and cruel, Frisk couldn't help but notice that the voice had a twinge of sadness to it. The voice was full of pain and hatred, and Frisk felt sorry for them. Frisk longed to hold them and tell them it we going to be alright, but how do you hold a voice?
All of a sudden, from the far end of the large, dark room, came a laugh. Not an evil laugh, but it wasn't the laugh of anyone innocent. 'Well, I'm not innocent either' thought Frisk. The laugh stopped, and a melodic voice took its place. The voice sounded as if a million people were speaking at once.
"Greetings. I am Chara."
Frisk turned their head in the direction of the voice, and there stood... a teenager. Just like Frisk. They had the same style of dark hair, but slightly lighter. Their shirt was green with a single, yellow, horizontal stripe. But the most shocking thing about them, was their eyes. Beautiful, bright red eyes that looked like a warm fire on a dark, cloudy night. They had an evil glint in them, but frisk could see right past that. Frisk saw years of pain and suffering, of hatred and loss. And even after all this person told them to do, even after all the evil they helped Frisk commit━Frisk still wanted nothing more than to help them.
Even though Frisk had never seen this person before, Frisk already felt like they knew them. The voice in Frisk's head would make comments as they went along their journey. Frisk knew that the voice, now known as Chara, loved chocolate. Chara loved to draw and read, and they used to love someone very deeply. And now, as Frisk stood facing Chara, they couldn't help but notice how beautiful━but sad Chara looked.
Frisk stood still, staring at Chara, their knife hanging at their side. Chara studied Frisk with amusement and question in their eyes.
"Thank you, Frisk. Your power has awakened me from death."
Chara's voice was soft and calculating, and it was music to Frisk's ears.
"Death? What are you talking about?" Frisk asked.
Chara smiled and studied Frisk with those intense red eyes.
"You know that humans and monsters both need souls to live, right?"
"Yeah." Frisk said with question in their voice.
"Well, my 'soul', my 'determination', they were not mine, but YOURS. At first, I was so confused━Why was I brought back to life? Then, I realized the purpose of my reincarnation. " Chara said with a slight smile on their face.
"And what was that?" Frisk asked.
"Power. " Chara said as they took a few steps towards Frisk.
Every instinct in Frisk told them to back away, that this was a trap, but they couldn't. Chara's eyes held Frisk like a magnet, and Frisk couldn't seem to back away.
