Satan's Son

Chapter 1

"I hate Tootsies" thought Hayden Rose as he slashed his sword, finishing off the last of the pesky rat-monsters. He wiped off the gooey monster blood off his blade, and sheathed it. Hayden had always had this sword. It had been his fathers, and now it was Hayden's. The sword was called Ender. He loved the sword. The hilt was made of amethyst, and the pummel was gold. It had an obsidian blade, but in different light, you could clearly see the little red specks of the Satan-stone, Enki. Hayden knew that this stone was rare. Few people knew of it, but the ones who did also knew that Hayden's father was the Devil himself.

Satan had fallen in love with the siren Luciana. Generally, Satan was not allowed to have children, because the Empire was afraid that children of Satan would be too powerful. Satan ended up breaking the rule, and Luciana gave birth to two boys: Sorath, who went by the name Kieran, and 5 years later, Eurynomos, but went by his American name Hayden. Eurynomos meant Prince of Death in Greek. Hayden had always been proud of his name. Sorath, or Kieran, is Hayden's older brother. He is the Sun god, and constantly flaunts about being Hitler's Personal Guardian Demon. Hayden is the nicer brother out of the two. The two had been quite the troublemakers, when they had been children.

When Kieran had turned 90, he had decided to leave the Hell-Palace, and was now making wars all over the planet, for fun. His greatest accomplishment had been World War II. Hayden, on the other hand, had taken a completely different path. He had fought alongside his father, and had moved up in the ranks. He was now known around the world, as the Prince of Death. He had trained with his father, and was one of the best fighters on the planet. Of course, he had the advantage of having Death magic, which only he, Satan and Kieran had. Hayden was still a better sword-wielder that his brother, Kieran, who was a gun-wielder.

Hayden was walking through the South corridor when he felt his phone vibrate. He pulled it out and saw a message from Kieran. His brother rarely texted him. Hayden didn't even think Kieran knew what a phone was. It read: "Hayden. Come to the Great Hall. Now."

As Hayden entered the Great Hall, he instantly sensed that something was wrong. There were no guards, and, as he looked over at his father's throne, he realized it was empty. Satan rarely left his throne. He only left it if there was an important emergency. Hayden pulled out his sword and peered into the hall. Standing there, in the middle of the hall, was his brother, Kieran.

As Kieran saw Hayden, a smile spread across his face. Although he was smiling, Hayden could see that something was bothering him. "What's going on here?" said Hayden. "What? No hello brother? Aren't you happy to see me?" replied Kieran. "Ok fine. Hi. Now can you tell me what's going on?" snapped Hayden "Where's father? Why are you back?" Kieran looked at his brother. Hayden could see the pain in his eyes as he said "Father is in his room. He's sick, Hayden. Luciana called me over to help. He is being harmed by an anti-demon virus. It's all my fault Hayden. While I was gone, I did a lot of research on humans. I spied on the Empire. I could see that they were doing something fishy, so I called father and he joined me. We were going together to see what the Empire was up too. We were spotted and the humans started firing these strange snakes at us. Father is weak when he is in the human world, and he got hit. I managed to bring him back to the palace, but it was too late. He had been infected. It was awful. The snake went into his mouth and just started burning him from the inside. The doctor said he had never seen anything like this before. All he can do is slow the effect of the virus a little bit. It's all my fault Hayden."

Kieran watched as Hayden let all of that sink in. Father was sick? How could Satan be sick? The legendary King of Evil was sick? How powerful was this virus? How could the Empire possibly fight back against the power of Satan?

Hayden thought this over while he walked over to his father's room with Kieran. The Empire had been pretty silent for the last 60 years. They had stopped investigating on the demonic world. Generally, the world had remained pretty peaceful between demons and humans. Few humans knew of the existence of demons. Satan had decided to keep it that way. He had decided not to take over the human world, rather than rule it. He preferred living beside them, peacefully. The humans had created all these stories about how awful Satan was. How we ate children and killed mercifully, without good reason. In the demon realm, it was the humans that were the monsters. They constantly killed each other, and never agreed. Hayden had read many books about humans. He found them fascinating. The way they lived in separate lands, called continents. They had computers, phones, robots, cars; all these things were things that they created with their bare hands. The demon realm had tried to adopt some of these creations, and that's why Hayden had a phone.

Demons learned how to be more civil thanks to the humans. Humans also had many different rights. They had a whole government, and different groups. The most important thing Hayden had learned from the humans was the LGBTQ+ community. Demons never really talked about gay, bisexual, gender fluid people. Demons were allowed to have homosexual relationships, they just didn't have a word for it. Hayden had learned that he was gender fluid through his studies. He had picked out his human name because of that: Hayden was a neutral name.
