Her face was shining like a star but it didn’t lose its humble look. The hall filled with rounds of applause as principal patted her back and awarded her the trophy. Her parents looked very proud and tears flowed down her mother’s cheek. Their eight years old daughter, Abeera Ali had made them proud again. She had gained second position in the annual examination of class three.
Abeera was a constantly hardworking student. She had a firm belief in herself. She was confident, intelligent and well behaved.
Years passed and she kept on putting efforts to excel. Her teachers were quite happy with her academic records and her parents were fully satisfied. She, herself was contended with all she had done.
Things were well till class seventh but then her grades started to fall. Gradually, she lost her interest in studies and quitted taking part in class discussions. She became dull and ignorant. Whenever she sat to study, she began to think of all the moments which were causing stress and pain. She wept all day long and spent sleepless nights. Everybody noticed the changes taking place in her. Teachers used to remind her about the bright past she had experienced. They were extremely worried about her performance.
Her sweet and caring mother had completely changed. She expected affection and care from her. But contrary to that she was always degraded and ordered to do her work well. She was never pleased……
Abeera had completely lost herself, she was overwhelmed with grief. But on the other hand, her best friends used to boost her up. They told her to hold herself and move forward. Hesitantly, she started working hard again. She had completely forgotten that Allah judges his mankind through difficult situations. Those who believed God, faced everything whole heartedly and accepted the challenges surely passed the difficult times.
She had never prayed to God. She had never raised her hands in front of God to have her wishes granted. She had never faced hard times at all, but her sister’s death was the turning point of her life. Everything became miserable, much similar to a nightmare. Her elder sister, who was very close to her mother passed away due to a serious disease. Now, her mother sobbed all day long missing her dead daughter. She stopped caring for her family and yelled at everyone.
Abeera was a very sensitive girl. She couldn’t bear harsh behaviour from her mother. It made her weak and dull. Due to this reason she even failed in her exam.
Her friends reminded her that Islam always provided support to weak and made them walk on the right path. It was a Muslim’s most precious possession. It was the only guiding light in the dark.
After this horrible incident she started taking interest in her religion, Islam. She prayed five times a day. It was pretty difficult for her in the beginning because had never practiced religion in her life before but it became easier afterwards. Whenever her hands rose in front of God she spilt her pains and fears. She cried and hoped that God will help him. By doing so, she became very calm and cool. She started getting good grades again. Now she added reciting Holy Quran in her daily schedule. She read it thoroughly and tried to follow what was being told by Allah in it. In this way Islam, Quran and Sunnah became supporting pillars of her life.
All her problems started to disappear. Her life became pleasant now. She understood Islam well. She feared God and followed the principles of life told by His messenger; our last prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SAW). She passed her matriculation with great marks and took admission in the best college of that town. She was proud to tell everybody that life has taught her all the lessons to live a prosper life and face God on the Day of Judgment. Islam was really a guiding light for her in dark times. Now she held the teachings of Islam tightly so that she could live her life nicely and die peacefully.
