A small street, with houses all at dinner time, they were missing out on the pale sunset right outside their window, not beautiful in itself but the sunset made everything around it beautiful.
It casted a pink shadow on the faces of the only people who weren't at dinner time.

The children.

The children of the neighbourhood sat in a circle at the park, away from the adults.

The oldest, a ten year old girl called Riley, was the leader of the group, she had curled brown hair that bounced around her face. Her brown eyes were filled with curiosity and innocence. She had become the leader because she knew the most. After all, her brother was a grown up. He was 18 and she said he had changed since he had grown up.

Next to Riley sat Ty, he was nine. With his blue eyes and white-blonde hair, he was told she would grow up 'as a nice looking man.' But there was a problem in that, he didn't want to grow up. He didn't want to be a nice looking man. He wanted to be a boy.

Ty's sister sat next to him, a small girl, Charlie May, she was the youngest of the group, eight and a half. Charlie May had golden hair and her eyes were a darker blue than her brothers, like the ocean. Tonight, her outfit consisted of a long blue shirt, with yellow flowers sticky taped to it. Under her eyes was gold glitter, which she stole from her mothers makeup.

Clutching Ty's hand, was Jules, he unfortunately was an only child. His brown hair was slicked back and freckles dotted his face. He adjusted his black glasses and traced a drawing in the dirt with his finger. He was turning ten tomorrow and he didn't want to.

Seated next to Jules, staring at the okay-looking sunset was Tiger. Her real name wasn't to be mentioned. On her face were whiskers, drawn on with a black marker. Under her eyes were freckles, surrounding her face was orange hair which she kept in two pony tails.

People would say that they were too young to understand much, but the people who said that are adults.

That night they decided they didn't want to grow up. So they ran away.
