When I first got to the library I only had one thing on my mind, to find the second book in the series I was reading. As soon as I walked into the library my mind went blank. Man was he hot!
He had short light brown hair, freckles that perfected his tanned skin, and green eyes the color of dark emerald, his eyes were so gorgeous you could easily get lost in them. Which I did. I snapped back into reality when I realized he saw me staring and was walking my way. I'm a very quiet person, not necessarily shy. He was obviously popular. Considering he was wearing a letterman jacket with the Cougars logo on it.
"Hi, my name's David." he said, confidently. "H-H-Hi, my name's Alex." I replied shyly. "I noticed you staring and decided to come say hello." "What are you doing here?" I asked. "Same thing as you, looking for a book, but I can't seem to find it." "What's it called, I may be able to help, this library is like my second home." "So you're a bookworm huh?" He asked. "I guess you could say that, now what's the book called?" He told me the title, Lord of The Rings The Two Towers, and I helped him find the book he was looking for. He stayed and talked to me while I looked for my book. "I found it" he said from the next aisle over. I was too short to reach it, being 5' 2" so he got it down for me. "Well I have practice in a few, thanks for the help." he said. "No problem." I replied while smiling.
We checked out our books and went our separate ways. As soon as I got home I locked myself in my room and opened my book, immediately after, a piece of paper fluttered out. "You seem pretty cool we should keep in touch -David." It said, his phone number was also written on the note. So I pulled out my phone and texted him. He replied and then asked if I wanted to come watch him practice, I said sure and gave him my address so he could come pick me up. He drove up in a faded black 1982 Camaro, I only know that because that is my dream car. "Hop in!" He said. "This your ride?" I asked. "Yep, baby is my pride and joy." "Baby like from Supernatural?" I asked in a shocked tone? "Yea you watch that?" He asked. "Of course, Castiel is so dreamy!" David looked at me surprised and started laughing. "You know, you have a really cute smile." He said sheepishly. "Thank you." I said smiling. We pulled into his school parking lot and he took off into the school to get his uniform.
I went and sat down at the bleachers, and waited for practice to start. As soon as David came out I began grinning, he is pretty cute. Throughout the practice I noticed a specific cheerleader from the group of them was almost showing off, for David. Did David have a girlfriend? My worries were pretty much eliminated, when I realized, every-time David looked up from practicing he totally ignored her and looked at me. When the coach said practice was over the cheerleader ran up to David and attempted to kiss him, he pushed her away and looked up at me. I gave him a confused look and he signaled for me to wait. After changing out of his sweaty uniform and climbing up to where I was he explained the situation to me.
"Autumn, the girl you saw try and kiss me, She's my ex-girlfriend. We broke up because she said I was to immature for a real relationship, and we weren't exactly a shippable couple, whatever that means. So she broke up with me, and now for some unknown reason she wants us to be a thing again, which we are not going to be. Not ever." He said "I know why she wants to date you again, you're funny, and sweet, and really cute, I know all this and i've known your for less than 12 hours."
We got up and walked to his car, he opened my door for me and acted like a total dork the whole ride. We jammed out to music and laughed and just drove around and had fun until really late that night, I didn't realize how late it was until my mom called me freaking out because when she got home I wasn't there. My mom gets off work at midnight. " I waited an hour for you to get home, and you weren't here!!! You know the rules, you have to be home before ten on school nights, get your butt home, you have ten minutes!!!" She yelled through the phone.
"Hey Alex, is everything okay? Why was she yelling?" David asked with a concerned look on his face. "Yea, I'm not supposed to be out past ten on school nights, and it's now almost one in the morning. She was just worried that's all." "Do you want me to drive you home?" He asked. "That'd be great thanks." and off we went, back to my house.
My mom came out the door as soon as we pulled up. "Thanks for the ride, David, and thanks for the awesome night." "No problem, I had fun to." He said. "Get inside right this minute Alex!!" my mother yelled. "Okay i'm coming." I waved at David one more time as he drove away and went inside to get ready to sleep. After my usual nightly routine of brushing my teeth, showering, and changing into pajamas I went to say goodnight to my mother.
" Hey mom, i'm about to go to bed." "Okay but first come here, i want to talk to you about something." I sat down on the couch. "You know i've been looking for a better paying job, where i can be home more often, and i found one, but it requires us to move. I ran into my room and slammed the door shut.
The day I meet David, I find out i'm moving. What if he decides he doesn't want to be friends anymore. What about my other friends, I mean my other friend. See at my school i'm not very popular, I only have one friend, her name is Trinity, she's spunky, smart, funny, and makes me feel like i'm not so invisible. She's pretty great. Oh and she is only 15 which means she's so smart she got to skip a grade.
I pulled out my phone and texted her. "hey, you okay?" She asked. "Mom just told me i'm moving, is there any way I could come get you so we could drive around and talk?" "Sorry but you know I have a curfew, I'm so sorry. See you at school?" "Sure thing, goodnight."
I texted David next. "Anyway we could meet up? like tonight? My mom told me i'm moving." "Sure thing, i'll pick you up in five, I missed your blue eyes anyway." He replied. I walked into the living room and told her I was spending the rest of the night at a friends house and she told me what school I was going to and I left.
"Hey stranger." I said when I got into David's car. "So do you know what school you're going to, so I know how far i'm going to have to travel to see you?" "Yep, i'm going to... your school!!" I said with excitement. "You're what??" "You heard me, i'm going to your school, but I understand if you don't want to hang out inside school that's fine." He stopped the car, got out, and came over to my side of the car. He knocked on the window and opened the door. I got out of the car and looked up at him. I mean looked wayyy up. Considering he's like 6'. He leaned down, and I stood up on my tippy toes, and as we were getting closer, a car drove by and he pulled back. We both started blushing at the same time and decided to get back in the car.
The car ride back to the house was really awkward, but eventually i started laughing because of the silence. He looked at me and smiled. "I want to show you something." He said. We drove quite a ways and then he pulled off onto a road that lead deep into the forest. Twenty-five minutes later we pulled off in front of a lake. He got out of the car and made the come here motion. I got out, and what I saw was absolutely magical.
The way the water was clear all the way to the bottom, but reflected the treetops, and the moon was absolutely breathtaking. The birds were wide awake, as were the bugs, They were a chorus of beautiful natural sounds. It was amazing. I go out in the woods every year for hunting season but i've never actually stopped and listened to the way things sounds like music.
We layed in the grass, swam, and just talked. He asked about my friends, I felt a lot closer to him by the time the sun came up. He talked about how his mom had died in a car crash, and how his dad had become his best friend. I told him about how I didn't know who my dad was, and how my mom worked all day, and through most of the night to keep our house, and how we were moving so she didn't have to work so much. I didn't tell him about my sister though, I couldn't bear to bring her up.
David talked about his little sister, and his big brother. How Abigail became the center of his world when his mom died, how his older brother left to join the military, and all about his mom, and how she sang when she cooked, and did the same thing every night before bed, and always brought him little treats home from work.
I told him everything my mom had ever told me about my dad. It hurt a lot to think about him, but i felt it was a good idea to talk to him. David was very understanding with what I was okay to talk about and what I wasn't.
