Leo was sitting on one side of the table, while the detective in charge of the investigation was in the other. Leo was watching how the detective was observing him. He drank from the glass on the table, and ate a cracker that was on a dish on his right. He asked himself about Jenny, who had been taken to another room, surely to match his story with hers. Luckily, Leo had nothing to fear, though Jenny had killed an unidentified man in foreign soil, which would be a problem for both of them.
- Mr. Romano, right?
- Yes sir.
- I'm detective Marino. Can you tell me what happened?
- Of course. I went to bed with my girlfriend, a few minutes after the lights went out, and something blew up the window. I immediately stood up and grabbed my gun...
- Oh, yes, that... artifact. Can you tell me where is it from?
- As I already told you, I'm the Chief of Security in Dryden Corp. This is one of our inventions, thought it's still unavailable for civilian forces.
- Ok, carry on
- I took my gun, gave Jenny the pistol and went out to the hallway. Sicen I have military training, as soon as I heard footsteps from boots, I shot my gun. A man fell down, and I took cover in one of the nooks of the hallway. When I came out to fire again, since I continued to hear footsteps, I felt three darts and passed out.
- At some point, did the men in the hallway yelled any kind of order or something?
- No, sir.
- What do you think they were after?
- I'm not sure... I'm on vacation and to be honest, I've got nothing of value on me...
- Except your arm...
- This piece of junk?? Please, many soldiers today have biomechanical implants...
- Yes, but none like yours, Mr. Romano. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's a top notch latest generation biomech implant, right?
- Yes, this is a prototype we're filed testing. I'm in charge of the tests...
- And that arm... does it have any hidden weapons?
- No sir, none. As I said, I'm on vacation...
- And what about your Dryden I.D. card?
- Yeah, well, that's one of the options I think might be possible to justify the attack. As a security chief, I've got access to all the areas of the company, except the experiments labs, which have restricted access. But there's something that has been bothering me. This attack was way too sofisticated to be just a "Corporate Spying"...
- That's what we're trying to investigate. We're searching for the reasons behind this attack. Very well Mr. Romano. Stay in the city in case we need to reach you...
- Sure, no problems, detective!
The detective left the room and entered the room next door, where Jenny was sitting. As soon as he closed the door, he noticed Jenny was nervous and in a bit of distress. She knew she had killed a man, and that most likely she would have a problem with the law because of it. She saw anxiously the detective, and drank from the glass of water on her left.
- Miss Harris... I'm detective Marino. Tell me, what happened?
- I was lying down next to Leo. The lights went out, something broke the window. Leo grabbed me by the arm, pulled me towards him, and gave me the pistol. He told me to shoot anyone who entered the room if it wasn't him. Leo went out, I moved to the bathroom door. A man came in and I shot him three times. I went out, saw Leo on the ground, and the guards came after. I was shocked and I don't remember anything else until Leo regained consciousness.
