I woke up at 6am, it was my last day of grade 8 and then I could officially say that I was starting high school. I pulled my hair up into a high ponytail and put on some mascara. I waked down stares and called for my mom but she had already left for work. I ate some cereal, packed my lunch and walked out the door to the bus stop, which was only 3 blocks away. As I got closer to my bus stop I couldn't see any of my friends, I pulled out my phone and decided to text my best friend Molly, that's when my life changed forever.
I was too busy texting Molly that I wasn't paying attention as I crossed the road, a car came racing down the road and struck the left side of my body. I was thrown onto the sidewalk and was left there for 3 hours, unconscious and barely alive until a women headed to work spotted my body and called 911. I woke up 27 days later in a hospital with my whole family surrounding me. They explained to me that I hit my head of the concrete when I was thrown onto the sidewalk, and was in a coma. I had to have surgery on my brain and I had a 20% chance of survival.
It took me 2 months to learn how to use the left side of my body again and 2 1/2 months to start eating normal food again. For the next 3 months I was in and out of the hospital for brain surgerys and had to do therapy every 3 days for my left side. Right when I thought I would be able to go back to life, things went bad. I passed out at therapy and didn't wake up for 2 weeks, I went into a coma again. When I had finally woke up I had to get so many tests run to see what caused it, I never found out. I was in and out of the hospital for a very long time until I was deemed healthy enough stop therapy and was aloud to go back to normal life and school.
