Chapter 20

Jim's POV:

I arrived at reception and gave in my details. I took a seat and anxiously waited for my name to be called. I took out my phone and went on to twitter to distract myself. "Jim Chapman?" Dr Baker spoke and I took a breath before I stood up and followed him into the room.

"So Mr Chapman... as I said, I got your results back and you're clear of prostate cancer. That's not what I called you in though as you can probably tell. You see, as you know the stomach ulcer was found on the scans but so was something else." He sighed. "What is it?" I asked, worriedly. "It seems you have testicular cancer." I was shocked. "How can it be treated?" I asked even more worried than before. What would this mean for me? For Tan and I? "Well, I will take more tests to see how severe it is, you may want to tell your partner? And we have chemo and surgery." He explained. 

"Okay, is it like... deadly or...?" I asked. "No, it's highly treatable and shouldn't affect fertility either if you're trying." He nodded and so did I. "Can I schedule another appointment for... a few days or a week?? For the test and treatment talk? Can I suggest bringing your partner if she has any questions or anything?" He asked and I nodded along once again.

"Here are some leaflets to look through and I will phone you tomorrow to organise the appointment? If you feel any pain or discomfort, take these..." He handed me a box and I shook his hand and headed out. I shoved everything in my pockets, took a deep breath and headed back to Joe, Zoe and Marcus.

"Hey Zo. How's Joe?" I asked. "He's good, not woken up yet though. Where did you go?" She asked in reply. "Just had to do something. Doesn't matter. Where's Marc?" I tried to change the subject. "He left about 15 minutes ago. He had to go film with someone or something." I nodded and sat beside her.

"Miss Sugg?" A nurse asked and Zoe sprung up. "Relation?" She asked me. "Step brother." I nodded and she did too. "He just woke up. You can head in." She said to us and we thanked her before heading in. "How you feeling?" I asked laughing lightly. "Rough, you?" He asked. "Good. But then again, I didn't get beaten up by Alfie now did I?" I questioned. "That's true." He laughed. "I told you not to go after him, and look what happened, you got lucky Sugg." I said seriously. "I know." He sighed.

After a long conversation with Joe and Zoe, I decided to head home. I had to tell Tan. I had to go home and think about it. What I wanted to do and how to tell her. How to tell John and my sisters, my mom.

I got into the car and stopped off at a coffee shop on the way back. It was around 8 now so I grabbed some food too and called Tan to see if she wanted anything. I got back into the car and minutes later, arrived back at the flat. I sighed and got out of the car before grabbing the food and heading inside.

"Hi bobs. How's Joe?" Tan asked as she greeted me. "Erm he's good. How was your day?" I asked trying to distract myself for a while. "Good, productive. How about you?" "Good I guess." We plated up and took our seats as we got into deeper conversation.

"Tan? Can I speak to you?" I called her in to the bedroom after tidying up after dinner. "Of course honey. Can I just pee first?" She laughed and I nodded. She returned and I took her hands in mine as she sat beside me. "Ok so... I don't know if you know, but my dad has prostate cancer." "Your birth dad?" She asked. "Yeah, he only got in contact to tell us to get checked out. Me and John." She nodded along,  a worried look spreading across her face. "Well, me and John went for tests and... we're clear!"I started. "Jim! You had me worried! Why didn't you tell me?"

"I didn't want to worry you but... there's more."

"Go on honey..."

A/N Sorry it's so late I was meant to upload it the weekend but I was really busy. Sorry it's so short too, I just wanted to get something up and leave it on the cliff hanger. :)
