Chapter One

"I want to break up."

Connor had been thinking about it all day. He knew his decision would hurt Jude. But he knew it was the best thing for him. His Dad wasn't okay and Connor was finding it hard to be positive about him and Jude.

So the only choice he had was to end it. What could he do? Connor needed to choose his Dad over his relationship. Connor figured that maybe once his Dad was on board with him being gay he could get back with Jude.

"What?" Connor could hear the hurt in Jude's shattered voice. Jude tried to recover. "Did you just say you want to break up? Why?"

Connor didn't say anything. He just gave a little shrug. He didn't want to say it was his Dad's fault. But his Dad still had to work through this. Connor knew his Dad would eventually accept him. But he couldn't yet and Connor knew he had to be single for now.

"Is it because of your Dad?" Jude asked his boyfriend. Jude tried to hide the hurt in his voice but he was failing. "Is this because he doesn't like me?"

"He likes you" Connor told Jude but knowing that it was a lie. "But this isn't about him. This is about me. I'm not ready for something serious. I need space."

"I'll give you space" Jude said grabbing Connor's hand. "But that doesn't mean you have to break up with me. Okay?"

"Jude, don't make this any harder than it already is" Connor jerked his hand away from Jude's grasp. "I'm trying to be a good guy here. We need to break up. I'm sorry."

Jude stared at Connor feeling betrayed. He didn't understand how Connor could do this to him. What did he do that was so wrong? Jude had the urge to slap Connor across the cheek. But he didn't. But his heart broke. Jude could feel his own heart breaking because Connor was hurting him.

"Fine" Jude got out bitterly. "You want to break up? Fine. Just remember there's no coming back from this."

"Jude..." Connor tried not realizing Jude might actually be mad with him. "This isn't forever. Just for now."

"No" Jude stared at Connor intensely. "You can drop dead, Connor Stevens. Your dead to me and I hate you. Have a nice life glad I won't be in it."

Connor went to say something but before he could Jude was gone. Jude was rushing down the hallway away from Connor. Connor felt his heartbreak as well. But it was too late to make it right. It was over.

Jude Adams Foster woke up in his bedroom a few years later. He was seventeen years old and a senior in high school. He was single and had one best friend Taylor. He didn't like to talk to people much unless he was being a smartass.

There was a knock at his door. Jude groaned in frustration. He really didn't feel like going to school today. He hated school and he hated most people.

"Jude!" His mother Lena called. "It's time for school! What are you doing in there?"

"Having sex now go away" Jude cried annoyed. "Okay? Awesome."

"Well tell your fake boyfriend to leave" Lena said. "You have school young man."

"Whatever."

Jude got up and dressed rather quickly. He grabbed his red converse shoes and slipped them on and headed out. He rode to school with Lena. Jude didn't have his own car yet. He wasn't too worried about it either.

Once Jude made it to school he met up with Taylor. They did their secret handshake then stood together staring at the Jerks. They were actually jocks but Taylor and Jude called them The Jerks. The jerks consisted of Connor, a guy named Flannigan Cambers, Elijah last name not important, and two other guys Jude didn't even bother learning their names.

Jude notices Connor laughing at some joke his friends told him. Jude rolled his eyes. He then seen Connor's boyfriend Ronnie Creggory enter the hallway. Oh, Ronnie.

Jude hated Ronnie. Not because Ronnie was a terrible person. Ronnie wasn't that bad. Ronnie was one of the sweetest people Jude had ever met. Jude just didn't like Ronnie for obvious reasons because Ronnie was with Connor.

Jude was still hung up on the break up. Jude hated Connor and how he broke his heart. Taylor had been there for him after the break up. Daria had been there for Connor. So eventually they took sides. Taylor took Jude's and Daria took Connor's because she believed Connor had a good reason to end it. Which Jude didn't even understand the reason.

"Ready for class?"Taylor asked her best friend.

"Not really" Jude responded quickly. "I don't wanna be in class with The Jerks."

Taylor gave Jude a sympathetic smile. She knew how he didn't like being in class near Connor. She was the same about Daria. She wanted nothing to do with her.

Jude walked to class with Taylor. He sat down in his seat and laid his head down ready to get this day over with.
