It's time. It's time to see if your strong enough for this country. It's time to see if you really trust your government. It's time you keep your loved ones close. It's time to know who you really are. It's time.

"Mommy, I'm scared. I don't want you to go please stay," tiny Chloe pouted her soft, pink lips before hugging her mom. The woman sighes whipping the little girls warm tears that have formed from her cheeks."Honey, you know I have to go. I would take you but its too dangerous to bring a little girl like you with me. Daddy and I just have some things to set through, you know the process. I'll be back in a week right before you wake up in the morning, okay?" The womans eyes sparkled with inspiration and determination, hugging her daughter even tighter.
"Beth come on, it's almost eight fifteen it will start in fourty five minutes we have to get going," the man who Chloe called daddy stood above them with one hand on the child's shoulder.
"Oh and Chloe, listen to your mother. We have been doing this since we are sixteen and this will be our last year since they are changing the ages to sixteen through eighteen.
"I'm going to miss you this whole week, sugar," he cups her baby face and strokes her cheeks gently followed by a little kiss."It's going to be okay," Chloe hears her mom say before she stands up and turns away and leaves with her father.
That was the last time she saw both of them.

My head snaps back in reality as the woman in the front desk asks for my name."Hello miss? Are you okay?" Her tone seemed caring, but how could she work with those people who killed my lovely parents.
"Chloe Makrev," I grumble under my breath just loud enough for her to hear.
"Okay sweetheart, just take a left over there and you'll be instructed on what will happen further on. Oh! And happy sweet sixteen!" Her face beamed with fake smile making me cringe. Yea. Happy sweet sixteen to me where I'm pretty much tested to see if I can handle death.
I follow the ladies directions and study the line of students waiting on the other side of the wall I had entered. Some of them were around my age, but there were a much more percentage of older kids. I guess people got the clue to stop giving birth to a child unless you want them to die.
I cross my arms as I reach the end of the line huffing a string of hair that was in my face. I didn't want to be here. I didn't want to play this nasty game thats killed thousands of people. No one questions the sick game, but I know some know it's not humane, but I get it since we were raised to "except and move on". See, I never reached that stage, I'm still in the "bitch you're killing your own people" kind of thing."Next!" A raspy voice comes infront of me.
Great, about ten more people in front of me till I get to finally see what crap happens next. All kids and teens know the overall rules and what the game is and why it has been made. We had a whole subject on it about school and we even trained in gym class to prepare. I guess teachers bet who's going to make it and who isn't when we are younger by our skills. I was always the top in my class, but that didn't make me feel any special. They want to put me in a week of unforgiving crap. It started about three centuries ago, all because of an argument between the Northern and Southern hemisphere war. To agree about the over populated area's, we (like the dumbasses we are) made and signed an amendment about this game called Before Dark. Sounds like a horror movie, believe me it is. People who come back after the week of insanity, that I don't even know what happens, loose their mind. It's beyond your worst fears, over hundereds of people die every year from this game.
"Hey! Chloe! Happy sixteen!" My friend, Charlie, came up to me giving me a huge hug. Yea sweet sixteen, the start of the first year of Before Dark. The age has been changed over the past years, knowing the older die quicker apparently because they have grown weaker. I believe it's because the government finally warmed up little and realized we had families to take care of. Can't wait.
I give a lite laugh," Charlie, you know I'm not so happy about this," I hear a sigh and see a nod, him turning away from me walking to his spot in line. It was both our first year, and Charlie thought this was more of a board game then anything else.
"Next!" Ugh it's that stupid voice again. I look infront of me and notice I'm next. Let's see what this is all about.
I walk up to her with my arm's crossed and looked her in the eye, giving her permission to start speaking.
"Well, well, well, if it isn't Chloe Makrev. The girl that's best at everything. I'm sure you'll make through this with no problem," she gives me an evil grin while I almost snarl at her.
"Just tell me what's next I've been waiting for this for almost seven years," I put my hands on the counter testing her courage. She sits up from her chair still having the evil grin on her face and also places her hands on the counter and went close to my face.
"Alright all miss "I'm the boss here". I'm giving you a partner. Everyone gets one so don't think that it's just because I like you and don't want you killed. The rest of what's going to happen to you the start of next week is for you to find out on your own. Congratulations, you're joining the game Before Dark bitch," she reaches for an envelope and hands it to me," ah and here is your partner and his info. He should be around here. Bye, bye now," she gives me a fake smile with a small wave. Man,I wanted to bite off all of those crusty ass fingers.
I walk away glaring at her before I actually got more tempted to bite her and pulled out the information about this boy. I scanned the sheet and saw a picture of him,his name, his birthday,e.t.c.
Ian Jonesey
Birth: 6/27/1997
Height: 6'2
Hair Color: Blonde
Eye Color: Blue
Blood Type: PositiveI stopped reading, feeling stalkerish knowing already everything about this boy. I looked at his photograph and my mouth dropped. He was good looking. VERY good looking.
"Hey, are you Chloe?" She hears a dark male voice from behind her and gaspes. Its Ian.
"Um yea," she smiles and reaches out to shake his hand, him following.
"Just to make things clear, I'm not going to be all safe for you. When you're with me you will have to challenge yourself and be independent.I already went through this crap once, I won't save your ass," he smirked as he noticed her eyes widened in shock.
"Meet me at the Canarao tomorrow at five o'clock sharp so I can see what I have to deal with for the next week," he slid his fingers through his hair and walked away, leaving his strong scent behind.
This boy was a douche. This boy was also really really hot. This boy will let you die. This boy smells like heaven. This boy will not risk his own life for trying to save yours.
It's going to be okay.
