[3 Months Before]
June. I love June. Maybe that's because it's my birth month, or maybe because it's summer time. Or maybe both. Well anyway, today is the first day of June, and I'm just so happy. We aren't doing anything for the rest of the week until June 5th, our last day of school.

I smile and choose a yellow blouse and designer skinny jeans. I match it with a pair of high heels that aren't my highest. The reason is because I'm walking in school, and who wants to walk with 6 inch stilettos? I grab my latte and walk out of my mansion. I live with my mom because my dad died. I get into my shiny new black car and drive to school.

When I get there, Sofia and Roxanne are waiting for me. "Aren't you so excited for June? My pool party? Summertime?" My two best friends and I laugh  as we walk into the bathroom.

Some girl wearing Walmart clothes looks at us and gets a frightened look on her face. She throws a wrapper into the trash and grabs her books. We watch her quickly rush out. Roxanne snorts as she watches her leave. We all walk over to the mirrors like we always do and pull out our makeup. Of course though, only our school makeup. We have tons more at home. I powder my face as I say "My god, we will have so much fun this summer."

Sofia applies her matte lipstick before she says in a singsong voice "Yeah, too bad there isn't enough hot guys for the three of us."

I throw my powder container into my makeup bag and say "Did you have to be that rude? You didn't even make it subtle?"

She fixes her false lash before spitting out "I wasn't rude! God, I was just joking."

She mutters a word under her breath and turns to Roxanne "We should totally leave Vanessa."

Roxanne pushes back her voluminous brown waves and says "Oh my god Sofia, just because you don't wanna hang out with her doesn't mean I don't want to."

Sofia looks like she was just punched. "Sorry." She mutters to me without even looking into my eyes. I just nod and we all walk out, perfectly, as if none of this ever even happened. I still feel angry that Sofia is dating the hottest guy in the school and Roxanne and I don't have anyone. We're both hotter than her combined.

••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
When I get home from school that day, I notice that the house is pretty much, empty. My high heels click clack against the hard floors as I say "Mom! Why is everything gone?"

I walk into the kitchen and see a bunch of boxes. My mom is standing in the middle of everything holding a box in her hands. Her blonde hair is tied into a bun and she's wearing some skinny jeans and a cardigan. She looks up at me and walks over to me.

"Honey, we're moving." She says softly.

I close my eyes and say "It's not April Fool's Day, Mom." I open them to see my mom with a serious look on her face. Shoot, she wasn't kidding?

"Oh my god Mom! I have friends! I'm the most popular girl in school and Sofia and Roxanne would be lost without-" my mom puts her hand up, signaling for me to stop talking.

I shut my mouth up and see that she has an exasperated look on her face. "Honey, I'm so sorry, but I got upgraded at work and now we have to move to New York City." My jaw drops at the words New York City. We always lived in an area where we got the whole plot of land, resulting in there not being many other people around us. But now, in a city? We'll probably get a tiny cramped apartment in the suburbs, I mean, duh? Suburbs is the city.

I run my fingers through my hair and say "When are we moving?"

She sighs and says "Next week. Pack your room up."

I trudge up the steps and try my best to not freak out. We're moving next week? How can I bid goodbye to the whole school in just one week? I throw myself onto my plush queen sized bed and let out a sob. How am I supposed to leave Sofia and Roxanne like this?

I first pull out my prom dress from this year and put it into a bag so it won't wrinkle. And then I feel the tears pour out again. At least I'll be able to finish the school year, I think. I remember my mom on the first week of this school year.

"You're already are the most popular at your school?" I remember nodding and smirking. I was just a freshman and I had already became the queen of Washington High School. Even the seniors bowed down to me. I can't believe I'll have to spend my sophomore year at a different school.

I cradle my head and walk to my full sized mirror with a gold frame. I touch up my makeup and take a deep breath. "Vanessa-Mae, you can do this."
