"I hate flying, but why this flight in particular its not like I'm visiting somebody that I know".
"You need to calm down" mom interrupts .
"What?!" I reply."You need to calm down. You look like you're holding on pretty tight on that seat and we haven't even took off yet".
Letting go of the seat, "I'm calm, I am."
As I looks out the window of the plane I see all the technicians backing away from the plane. The whirling sound of the jet engines and the sudden push forward of the plane makes my nervousness come back at full force. "We're moving?!"
"Don't worry Coraline, nothing bad is going to happen on this plane, I promise" she reassured me with her calm voice. If I'm going to be here for awhile, might as well find something to distract me. As I look around the plane I see my mom. She is what you call a very social woman; spends most of her time at parties, gatherings, and does basically anything involving talking about herself and about wine. When you compare both of us together side by side, you wouldn't notice the similarities except the long brown/black hair. The differences are too much to describe. Her lips are too red, eyes are brown but she wears glasses from time to time like me. Her skin is smooth with a few rough edges; nose is too small and her body looks like its starving. Some mom I suppose, but she and dad do take care of me so I shouldn't complain.
My dad is in the row next to us, looks like he's already asleep. He is a business man from this small company that produces honey. At least he and I have a lot in common, we both try to make the best of things; same green eyes and same personality. He doesn't always come home, mostly spending his time at his office or business trips to different cities. As long as I can remember, he's always doing something that requires business or sleep. At first he said that we were going a vacation which was fishy since we never go on vacations, I asked, "why Wisconsin?"
'Because I hear the weather is nice this time of year" he calmly replied. Which is total bull.
"Dad, it's snowing there. You know I hate snow. Why are we really going?"
He gave me a quick smile and sighed knowing i can tell he lied, "looks like I cant keep things from you" he chuckled. "There's a huge partner coming in to the company, so they're having a company picnic. So I'm bringing all of you along, sorry about the lie."
So after that we packed for the trip and headed to Kansas City International Airportand bought three tickets to General Mitchell International Airport in Wisconsin. And we spent 3 hours in line because a certain MOM didn't want to cooperate with the airport security.
It wasn't so bad, the landing strip was bumpy as the plane took off the ground. After the seatbelt sign light turned off, the stewardess asked what I wanted to drink and whatever stewardess normally do. As I looked around the cabin, I see some kinda banker, or who looks like a banker. A mother with two bratty children who are fighting over who gets the Doritos and some regular people that i don't bother noticing. I guess there's not a lot of people flying this morning.
"hello", he interrupted. "Do you know the time, I seem to have forgotten my phone in my suitcase". I don't know what was it about the guy, but there was a bad vibe radiating off of him. His voice was somewhat deep but a little high, and the way he smiled gave me chills. He wore a suit but it looked torn as if he didn't really care about it; he was chubby and I guess Hispanic. "it's 9:20" I replied. His eyes widened and his smile grew, "better buckle up, we have 3 minutes, then only 10."
"What do you mean?", curiously
"you'll see Coraline." he smiled
Before I could ask this weird person how he knew my name, the plane started to shake violently. The stewardess was knocked backwards by the shaking and the passengers started to mumble and worry. The two children started to cry when the mother tried to calm them down, and everyone started to panic in their seats. And before I knew it, I was being pushed into my seat be the force of the plane going down.
I screamed as loud as I could to reach my parents ears over the other passengers screams, "MOOOM, DAAAD!!!!!". But I received no reply just the screams of terrified passengers.
I looked out the small window and saw the ground heading toward us in a very terrifyingly fast pace. Yet, I'm not so afraid as I was awhile ago. Weird. All I could think about was what I was going to leave behind if, when I die, which isn't much. All I'm leaving behind is a messy room, a 2010 Toshiba laptop and no friends. I've always been an indoor kid, only the internet has been my world. But now that it's ending......it doesn't matter anymore.
I tried holding my mom's hands, but the descent was too rough and I couldn't get a grip of her fingers. So I just closed my eyes.......imagining I was back home watching a movie with my mom and dad, when both of them had no work or no social event planned, just a day to relax. I cant die like this, i cant die without saying something to them, "MOOOM, I LOV-
"TIME'S UP! LETS GO!!", interrupted
Before I could say another word, everything....and I mean everything became darkness.
