I clenched my own fists, still fighting back the tears.
Why.. Why can this just only be a freakin' nightmare...?
No matter how much I try, it really is happening right in front of my very eyes.
I was stunned of what she had just said. Ever since then, it has never changed. Dad always comes back home drunk. I never get to call him Father because that wasn't the term I would used especially the man who is right in front of me now.
The minute I looked at him, I grew despise of him of what he had done.
I couldn't move my legs. I stood there, frozen like the whole world had gone deadly silent by now.
Although I was the one holding the inheritance, I didn't use it, even it though it was tempting to use it against Dad.
I was half expecting him to kick as out, but since mom is sick and I'm the owner...
"Mom..." I whispered to her. She was in bed, resting.
"Yes, sweetheart?" She asked, giving me a small smile
"Let's find another house, that way. Dad won't know and question our actions, it's safer.."
She hesitated, "I love the idea, sweetheart, but when?"
"Tonight, at midnight."
"But what about your friend, Jayne?" I almost forgot about that.
I hesitated for a moment. "I'll find a way to tell her.. Maybe not now but soon. At least I can still see here at school.." I told her.
The clock struck midnight the minute I finished packing up. I pressed my ear on the door, checking if there are any noise outside the room. But there's no sign of it. I slightly creaked the door open to get a better look. The mess was still there downstairs.
Luckily, Dad was nowhere in sight.. for now.
I won't be fooled by this.. I thought skeptically.
I mean, who knows, my Dad might show up if we were about to leave. Then I realized I got a secret door in my room. I explained my mom about the plan.
"He doesn't know about this yet. I'll be the one driving." I said.
"But dear--"
"It'll be alright. You're in a bad condition. I got this." I said with determination.
We entered into the secret door as we head straightly to the garage. I calmed myself down, going as planned. I placed the things on the trunk as Mom got in. I followed inside the car as I started the engine. We head out immediately, not looking back. I didn't turn on the headlights because my Dad might find out but I turned it on once we were out of sight already.
"What house do you know that Dad doesn't? " I asked Mom.
I know Mom has some houses but I was worried what if my Dad finds out? Either way, I didn't have time to think about that. I was searching for a place to stay for now.
A week passed, and we haven't found a house...yet. Unfortunately, my dad overheard our plan that night, and we were kicked out. He threatened that if I kick him out, he will blackmail us--or, if he has to, murder us. My mom and I stayed at a hotel. She insisted in working again, even though I protested to that. I can't believe that there's a person similar to a nightmare dressed like a daydream!
