A Fanfiction of Katelyn and Travis – by NerdKing

It was a wonderful afternoon in the forest as Aphmau and all her friends set up their camp. They had decided that it was a good weekend to escape from their daily lives and go relax in the wilderness together. Aphmau pitched a three person tent for her and Aaron to sleep in, and invited Kawaii-Chan to sleep in their tent as she didn't have one of her own. Garroth, Laurance, and Dante pitched their own tent, but Travis and Katelyn were the only ones who could not fit in the other two tents. Reluctantly, Katelyn was soon convinced by Aphmau that she and Travis could not fit in the other two tents, and they would have to share the final three person tent. The only way Aphmau could convince her good friend was by telling her that because it was a three person tent, she could have all the room she wanted away from Travis.

When nightfall came everybody went to their tents, and Katelyn made sure to give Travis a couple thousand death threats so he would never come near her in the middle of the night. She lied down in her sleeping bag and pulled the blankets up to her chin. Travis had forgotten his sleeping bag and had to sleep on the cold ground. Despite his whimpers, Katelyn ignored Travis and fell asleep.

It was around one o'clock in the morning when Katelyn felt someone grab her waist. In a panic, she grabbed her sword that she always kept a few feet away from her and looked over her shoulder at her sudden offender. To her surprise, it was only Travis. She was about to swing at him for scaring her, but noticed he was fast asleep. He had rolled over in his sleep and wrapped his arms around her.

Annoyed, Katelyn wondered why he would do such a creepy thing, but observed that he was no longer shivering and had even started to smile in his sleep. Katelyn rolled her eyes and shrugged it off, allowing him some of her blanket. She thought there was no harm in letting him warm up since he was asleep and not doing it intentionally.

Katelyn stared at the sleeping boy that was lightly hugging her, and noticed that he was actually quite handsome. "Why did I think that?" Katelyn asked herself. She quickly erased the thought out of her head. "I can't think that way towards Travis! People will think I actually like him!" She shivered herself, not wanting to think about "relationships". But the more she stared at Travis, the more she realized she actually did feel something for him.

"He's just a nice guy, when he's not being an idiot," Katelyn told herself. "There's nothing wrong with thinking someone is good looking as long as you stay friends, right?" She recalled the many months Travis had spent time with her since he had moved to the neighborhood many months ago. He was always kind to her, and even seemed to care about her. It was pretty obvious that Travis liked Katelyn; she had known that from the first time he had thrown his arm around her and gave her a pick-up line.

Then she remembered the date they had gone on. He had begged her to go with him on Valentine's Day, and though she went because he wouldn't stop asking, she had secretly thought it might be fun. She had a great time on the date too, though she never admitted it. Travis even tried to sneak a kiss on her at dinner, but she panicked before he could and stopped him.

They had kissed before, she remembered'. There was one time at the A-Con that Lucinda tricked her into revealing her feelings for him in front of everybody. In a jealous rage to win over Travis, she had grabbed him and kissed him with feelings finally exploding out of her after being locked up for months.

"Why do I hide these feelings?" Katelyn whispered to herself. "It's pretty obvious that I like Travis myself, but I deny it whenever my friends ask me. Why can't I just be happy for once? Why do I have to care what everybody thinks of me?"

She must have whispered too loud, because Travis' light snoring was disturbed. In a slow movement, Travis shifted, pulling Katelyn close to his chest. Katelyn panicked inside. "What is he doing?!" she screamed in her head. "I don't want to be this close to him! What if someone sees?!" She grabbed Travis' hips, attempting to push him away.

Katelyn's forceful movements disturbed Travis' sleep even more. His smile faded from his face. Katelyn stopped, fearing he might wake up. "Crap! Why did he stop smiling? I don't want to wake him!" she screamed in her mind. She laid there, her face buried in Travis' chest, Travis' chin resting on the top of her head. Travis's warm hands had gone from Katelyn's hips to her back, warming her entire body. For once, Katelyn actually felt deep peace rolling through her. She felt so warm, and the odoriferous scent of pine needles and field grass resonated off of Travis' shirt.

Katelyn's instincts pounded on her skull, commanding her to push Travis away so she couldn't get too close. She couldn't let anybody see! She couldn't let anybody know! She couldn't... She couldn't...

She just couldn't hurt Travis this way. She had pushed Travis away since they had met, and ever since Travis had started to lose confidence. He never showed it, but the amount of girls he flirted with had gone down tenfold. She had always been so harsh towards him, but he had always treated her like a queen. Why did she have to be so uptight?

Katelyn stared at Travis again, admiring all the memories they had made together. She had never intended to, but she had made more memories with Travis is a few months than she had any other person in her life. "Maybe," she thought to herself. "I can allow myself to love someone."

Hoisting herself up, Katelyn brought her face close enough to Travis', and pressed her lips to his. All at once, her heart felt like a waterfall of emotions, flowing too fast for her to catch her breath. Travis' lips were so soft, and his light breath smelled of cherry. She started to feel like she was getting hotter and hotter, and she quickly lowered back down and pulled the blankets back up to her chin, wrapping her own arms around Travis as she fell asleep.

...

Kawaii-Chan stood at the doorway to Travis and Katelyn's tent with her mouth hanging open. She thought she was still dreaming, but after a few minutes of rubbing her eyes and pinching herself she had confirmed that Travis and Katelyn were sleeping together arm-in-arm. Aphamu came out of her tent and saw her neko friend staring into the tent. She too stared at the two with her mouth hanging open, and Kawaii-Chan turned to her with the most flabbergasted and excited expression she had ever seen. She quickly covered her friend's mouth before she screamed, and whispered to Kawaii-Chan, "Maybe we should keep this a secret. Just between you and me!"

Kawaii-Chan agreed and the two friends hurried away from the tent. It was an hour later when Katelyn finally woke up. She saw she was still hugging Travis, and when she heard footsteps outside the tent she panicked and quickly pushed Travis away. Travis woke up with a jolt and looked around, and Aphmau peeked her head into the tent. "Are you guys going to sleep forever? Come on, we've got so much stuff to do today! Everybody's already down by the lake!"

Katelyn smiled and grabbed her bathing suit, hoping and praying that Aphmau hadn't seen what was going on in the tent. She might admit her feelings towards Travis to her best friend in due time, but she didn't want to do it just yet.

She and Aphmau raced down to the beach, and as Travis got up and grabbed his bag, he thanked Irene that he was a light sleeper.
