Hey! The start of this fanfic is going to seem kind of typical but I promise that it gets better real fast ;)

It started out as an average day for Amelia Churchill. She was spending a cold autumn day at work in a tiny vintage shop. She sat near the register, ready for customers to arrive.
The store had only opened up a few mere minutes ago. Mr.Scott, a fairly regular customer, walked in ready to sell his old time piece.
"Hello, Amelia."
"Hello, Mr.Scott." She smiled at the adorable old man. "Have you got something to sell today?"
"Indeed I do! It's my old timepiece! You see, my father passed this down to me. His father gave it to him of course, and it has a lot of history. It has been to Asia, Europe, Africa, you name it! It's seen wars and even the Native Americans!" He exclaimed excitedly.
"Really?" Amelia leaned forward, intrigued. "Why have you chosen to give it up?"
"I haven't got anyone in the family. I was an only child and my father and wife died some time ago. I have no one to pass this on to... At least rightfully. I figured that with my limited time on Earth I could put a little mystery in the world."
Now, Amelia did not want to say she was sorry, nor did she want to seem as if she didn't care. She simply nodded, accepting the time piece as Mr.Scott pulled it out of his pocket. It was beautiful. It was golden and had engravings that swirled over the surface. It opened up with the press of a button, revealing a clock that didn't work anymore. A gold chain hung off of a little metal loop on the locket.
"It's beautiful." Amelia said, breathless.
"Yes, it is. Now you see I kind of lied. I did not come here to sell it, I just wanted to give it to you."
"But why?" Amelia was puzzled.
"I see something in you Amelia. You are smart, beautiful, and have the most timeless personality. You are exactly what I would want in a daughter. I am giving it to you because I want it to be passed on for generations. This watch was the very thing that brought me to meet my wife. I have experienced many adventures with this watch in my pocket and I want you to do the same."
"I could never--"
"Please, Amelia. It's important to me."
"Okay. Thank you so much Mr.Scott. It is an honor that you thought of me to pass on this beautiful piece." She said while running her finger over the uneven metal surface.
"You're welcome. I really must be on my way now. Have a great day Amelia." Mr Scott said, turning around and making his way out of the store.
"Thank you again!" Amelia called as he walked out the door.
Only a minute had passed before a young man hastily opened the door with a cling of the bell.
"Excuse me, sir. Are you alright?" Asked Amelia.
"Please, miss. I need a place to hide! I'm being chased!" He begged with a crackly voice.
Every voice in her head told her to make the boy leave. Something told her that he was trouble. Despite every fiber of her body telling her no, she complied to give the boy a place to hide.
With a nod she said, "Come with me! Hurry!"
"Oh, thank you! Thank you!"
"Don't thank me now, speedy. I don't even know how long you can even stay!"
"That's okay! I just need to keep out of sight!" He replied, seemingly unfazed by her sudden attitude.
