Realization

I was walking home from school, as an alert appeared on my phone saying "Anyone who is outside go indoors now". It was something like that but I passed it off as a test for the EAS. But boy was I wrong. So while I was walking another alert appeared but it wasn't an alert it was a text from my father telling me to go home now and lock the doors. I thought to myself "Why is he so paranoid, it's probably a storm or something". But I didn't want to get my phone taken away so I listened to him and started to head home. While I was walking home I saw a man laying in the road, I was scared and I stopped and yelled "Hey...Are You Okay?". That was one of my biggest mistakes. The man got up but he didn't look human...he looked like a monster. After he stood up he stood there and after a while he growled and I was very confused but then he started walking and growling louder and I ran past him all the way to my house and locked the doors like o was told to. I called my dad, but he wasn't home which was odd because he should be by now. A couple hours go by and I hear a car door slam shut. So like a curious teen would I looked out my window and was glad to see my dad. He came inside and kneeled down in front of me and said "Ryan did you see a man in the streets?". I obviously told him the truth and said "Yes". He then told me "Life's not gonna be the same" I asked why. "A virus is going around turning people into monsters. And at that moment I knew my life was gonna be way different.
