[ ----- START OF CHAPTER ----- ]
Albus Severus Potter knew he should have been ecstatic about his first year at the magical school of Hogwarts but one sad thought managed to disintegrate all other happy ones - Was Albus going to be in Slytherin?.
Albus' father had drove the family from 12 Grimmauld Place, the Potter family home for nineteen years, to Kings Cross Station where everything he had been told about Platform 9 3/4 was proved to be true. They ran straight towards the stone barrier between platforms nine and ten and instead of painfully colliding with it they continue running straight through it onto a busy train platform. They had then met with their friends and then, after Albus had a quiet and reassuring conversation with his father, they continued onto the beautiful scarlet red, smoke billowing Hogwarts Express.
Albus slumped down on his seat and leaned against the window, getting one last glimpse of his waving parents. Only once Kings Cross Station was a spec in the distance did he turn towards the other members of train carriage.
Opposite Albus was Rose Weasley his cousin who was blue eyed, red haired, like her father, and just as nervous as Albus was. Rose was already wearing her school robes and currently reading a spellbook, probably for the hundredth time. Next to Rose was James who was Albus' brown haired and eyed older brother. James was only one year older than Albus but was extremely more outgoing compared with Albus' shyness. Next to James was Fred Weasley II who had inherited his father and uncle's sense of humour as well as their red hair and brown eyes. Fred was the oldest of the group being in his fourth year. Finally, opposite Fred was his younger sister Roxanne, also a first year like Albus, who had inherited both her mother and father's brown eyes, her mothers brown her and her skin was a mix between the both - a more of an olive shade. Between Albus and Roxanne was an empty seat.
Albus looked over to Rose who met his eyes immediately and gave him a reassuring smile - she understood how nervous he was. Thanks to the short talk with his father and Rose's smile Albus was assured he wouldn't be in Slytherin.
James stood up, took out a pentagon shaped box of cards, held them up and asked 'Anyone for Exploding Snap?. The question was answered by a wave of 'Sure!'s, 'Might as well's and 'Ok then's. James opened the box and poured out about twenty colourful pentagon shaped cards which upon contact with the ground exploded extremely loudly. There was a collection of screams from everyone, even Fred, except for James who was expecting it.
Rose exploded almost as fiercely as the cards 'James! Read the front! "Open and play with caution! OR ELSE!" '. By the time everyone calmed down the cards had reappeared perfectly set out on the ground.
'Ok lets start with Patience? Everyone playing?' James asked and everyone nodded to both just as the carriage door slid open and a platinum blonde and sleek haired boy with a neutral expression appeared in the opening who was already wearing his robes - like Rose had been. Albus and Rose exchanged glances and the boy said 'Sorry, do you have any spare seats?'.
James, surprisingly politely, said 'Of course' and offered him the empty seat opposite him by gesturing towards it. 'Up for a game of Exploding Snap with us? We're playing Patience'.
'Sure' the boy responded now smiling. They played Exploding Snap for about an hour, but it seemed shorter. James had won almost every game much to Albus' annoyance, but he accepted the fact as he knew James was skilled at the game.
