Nothing But A Disappointment

The doctors never gave up. As soon as her heart gave out they tried hard to revive it.. And they did! They were able to bring her back.  Her injuries were no doubt fatal , but miracles never cease to exist. 

Her parents were broken, Hysterical , cold, tired, sleepy, miserable. You name it. Avril's brother Mark and her sister Lizelle were called for immediately. 

They were here in the morning. The doctors had managed to revive her all right , but they warned the family that they couldn't take any guarantee that she would manage to fight it through and hence the family had to be prepared for what might happen sooner or later. 

The family was really very broken. Its like they had given up hope themselves. They knew they had to be strong and outwardly they were very strong, but i knew each one's hope was as bad as the others. Avril just had to make it through this one night. They said if she did then it was a definite chance that she would survive. 

They waited as the critical hours ticked away slowly , all waiting , just in case. They were prepared to say goodbye to her that night. 

But no, Morning dawned and Avril Made it through the night. The doctors put her into a medical coma so that she could heal peacefully. 

Its been a week now and the Doctors are bringing her back slowly slowly. I'm was going to see her. Being her doctor , I had never given up hope on her. I hadn't told Jean about all that Avril had told me on that distressed night. I knew she was too troubled to handle the fact that her daughter was mad. She wasn't. Mad i mean. But every common man thought that a psychological disorder was madness. 

I chose what I wore carefully. Not too dull colors, but not too flashy either.. Just a little bright and cheerful. I was very nervous and I dont know why.

I walked in at 10:57 am into her room. She didn't see or hear me come in. She was too busy watching One Piece. She really loved that anime. So I wasn't in the least bit surprised.

It was going to be a tough day today. I had to make Avril realise she was sick and I knew mark was the only one who could do this. If Avril ever came to know she was a mental patient by her own , it would be very hard to bring her back. She didn't remember any thing from that night. So, I dont think she remembers that she realized she was unwell. And it was really important that she comes to know it now. 

"Heyyy!! Someone's looking all bright n shiny" i laughed tousling her hair and grinning at her annoyed face.

"Why do you do that to me Dr. you know i hate people touching my hair" she scowled.

I laughed "How are you feeling now?"

"Besides the fact that im lying in a hospital  , in a tacky hospital gown , with bandages around my wrist n stomach and that I cant remember anything and that no one would tell me either, Well yea i guess im good" she said in a sarcastic tone. 

"Well honey" i giggled "Its more than just a tacky hospital gown" i cracked up even though i know this was not that funny, but she cracked up too.

Just then Jean entered. She grinned broadly at the sight of us. 

"Well well, looks like you two are getting along well. Im glad ur here Dr. , Avril seems to enjoy your company" she said with a wink.

"It seems like she does" i say winking back. 

Jean knows what I was going to do today. I had told her to be prepared to face a totally new Avril. Maybe a scary one. 

She nodded and motioned me to go ahead.

We all became serious and somehow Avril seemed to notice it.

"Say , why so quit everybody? Wassup?"

"Well honey, " Began Jean "We have something to tell you'

"We?" she questioned. 

Jean called in her husband Craig, lizzie and mark. 

"Woah! Can we not do this whole family meeting thing now , I wanna watch One Piece" snapped Avril!

"Well the thing is.." Jean glanced nervously at me and i looked as much as nervous , so i motioned Mark to take the lead.

"Oh Goodness! Can you tell her already , Mom! Why do you need to make all this complicated?" blurted out mark.

"What? Tell me what? What in the name of God is going on?" snarled Avril

"No need to shout dummy." snapped back Mark.

"We're adopting a kid" smirked mark

"Wha-" avril was speechless. "Why would you do that Mum? At this age, I mean its not right! "

"Honey, we think you would get better if you had another sibling" whispered Avril's dad.

"But why would you want another kid?" she shrieked.

"Don't you see you idiot, your no good as the smallest kid. So we want the last kid of the family to be good , unlike you. Cause let's face it. Your nothing but a disappointment" shrieked back Mark. 

I looked to Avril. Her eyes were a blood red and she spoke in a very different voice, very unlike her own. I saw everyone grow cold and pale. But it was working.

"Oh! So you think I'm not good enough , do you ? I see how it is. Just you wait Mark , Just you wait. Soon im gonna strangle you to death and take pleasure in your screams. I will-"

"Avril!!" shrieked Lizellel. 

And suddenly Avril came back to normal. She looked at all of us shocked and confused. Lizelle clasped her into a hug but Avril pushed her away roughly and turned to me.

"I-I , did something just now, didn't I? What did i do? Doctor Sequera answer me.. What did i do?" 

" Nothing!" i replied softly and led her back to bed. Soon she was given a sleep injection and she fell deep into a sleep.

Avril's family were very shaken up with what they had just witnessed. Mark was shattered as he thought of how he behaved with his sister. But I assured him , what he did was right. Now Avril once again knew something was wrong with her.

I explained to them then of what was Avril's condition. Jean looked a little doubtful of my plan. She didn't seem to be convinced. 

A few hours later as I assured her that everything would be okay i went to look out of the window. Avril's ward was on the ground floor. It was a beautiful view anyway. 

I noticed something strange and nearly lost my balance and fell. You could see it clearly. She knew i was looking. She looked back at me as she ran off down the road in her Hospital gown.

"Avril!" i shrieked "Come back!" i ran full speed out of the hospital chasing after her. 

She had somehow managed to jump out the window. I didn't know where she had run off too. There was a big commotion in the hospital. 

I just prayed and hoped that Avril might run home and not do anything reckless..
