"De-evolution?" A tall man with a build of a football player approached the circular table in which the president and seventeen other staff members gathered, "that's the best name you got for this crisis?" The man sighed and starred irritated at the president.
"We mustn't worry about the name," a petite blonde lady with foggy glasses set a notebook in front of the president, "this crisis, it can't be stopped. We don't have enough time to understand this." She looked harshly at the man who spoke before her.
It remained quiet, the table surrounded by furious government leaders who acknowledged their broken country, America, but it wasn't just their country. Everyone. China, India, Russia, Canada, even Africa, they started appearing everywhere.
"So that's it." The president cocked his head from his papers to the rest of people gathering before him, "there's nothing we can do." Everyone starred at him expecting some sort of, but, or anything that suggested otherwise. "Call congress, tell them to give into the tribal men. We don't have the technology, the weapons, the fight against this." He paused still thinking the details out in his head.
"Sir?" A scrawny looking Asian whispered faintly to him, "Sir?" He said again louder.
"What?"
"What are these people? The things their doing, it's unnatural!" The man starred down gravely at the reports of missing bodies and government failure, "it's abnormal. And," he added furthermore, "they want us to join them. To become one of those inhumanly animals! Are people really going to accept this?" A murmur went through the crowd but it was silenced as the president waved his hand.
"Like I said," everyone starred at him, implored to find out the rest of the sentence, "there's nothing we can do."
***fifteen generations later--POV Brooklyn--the village among the mountains***
"It's finally been fifteen generations huh?" My best friend Chrissy looked bewildered at the rest of the village. Chrissy was a small Malaysian girl who adopted blonde hair from her half American father, she wore a messy bun which entangled itself with the Bobby pins Chrissy had so harshly set in her hair. She had brown eyes which looked awkward with her blonde hair but no one really focused on that considering she wore thin rectangular eyeglasses that turned foggy a few times during conversations.
"I know you still hate the Chief but it's not his fault that the Chiefs generations before us decided to conquer the world." It was quiet, Chrissy starred unmoving at the ground not joining the rest of the parade that went down the gravel paths, "and think about the good it's done." I smiled greedily, still excited that my powers finally came to me the other day.
"But what about the wrong its done? Poverty, and worst of all we basically have de-evolved!" She turned her head up to look at me, "we can't go back to how life was, no internet, no technology-"
I cut her off angrily, "we have technology. Plus I would think it's an evolution! We have powers!" I smiled and giggled feeling my heart jump up and down.
"Stop calling it powers."
"Why?"
"Cause there not powers, their called Divinities." She crossed her arms, although I knew she was right it's still annoying having one of the smartest kids in class basically tell you your dumb. But that's why I loved her, plus, she's not one of those smartass kids, she's like a uh. Smartnice kids....
"Why are you looking so dumbfounded?"
"Sorry, was just thinking of something."
