"I can do it, I can do it!" said Marinette to herself. She held the gift with the letter to her chest and looked around the classroom. Tikki flew out of her bag. "Do it Marinette! This may be the day Adrien finds out you like him!".
Marinette took a deep breath and tiptoed into the room, then slowly put the gift and letter in Adrien's bag and ran out of the room.
"Oh Tikki, I did it!" she said as she ran off to the lunch room. But as soon as she got there, she panicked
"Ohhhhh, but what if he doesn't like it? What if he rejects me and I'll spend my whole life being a lonely old Grandma at some rotting senior center knitting a scarf and still crying cause Adrien rejected me?!"
Just then the school bell rang, and it was time to go home.
"Oh Tikki what have I done" groaned Marinette. Tikki giggled "Oh you'll be fine Marienette. And besides, if Adrien rejects you, he doesn't deserve you! Have some self confidence!". Mari sighed. "You're right Tikki, I just have to let fate decide"
"Plagg, stop carrying around that filthy cheese. People are starting to complain". Plagg simply shrugged and swallowed the cheese whole. "Huh? I don't remember this being there..." Adrien said as he pulled Mari's gift and letter out. His eyes widened as he read the letter.
Dear Adrien,
I just wanted to say that ever since we met, I've always admired you. You're so nice, helping others out, giving that umbrella to me on the first day of school. You even put up with Chole. You always do amazing stuff, like chinese, fencing and basketball along with your modeling. You even helped someone like me when my uncle visited, and when he knew French, you were simply glad to help. Ever since you came into my life, I've had a crush on you. It was small at first, but it grew so big, I couldn't even talk to you without stuttering. You see, that's why I wrote this letter. To tell you, I love you, and I hope you return my feelings
Love, Marinette
Adrien's mouth fell open. "SH-SHE LOVES ME?!" he yelled, as Plagg gagged.
"Ugh, she's probably your soul mate if she said something THAT cheesey".
"B-but she can't! I mean, she loves Nathaniel doesn't she? Isn't that why she helped me get the akuma out? So they could be together?" said Adrien, panicking a little.
"Well apparently, you were wrong, and what's so bad with her loving you, I mean, shouldn't most boys be happy that a girl likes him?" said Plagg, patting his stomach.
"Plagg, I love Ladybug, and I don't think I have any feelings toward Marinette." Adrien said quietly. "I'll have to reject her." He dropped the letter in the trash and walked to his bed, as Plagg stared after him. This wasn't like Adrien at all. Plagg sighed and petted his Camembert. "My love, why do humans fall in love, when they have all the cheese they want" he said as he fell asleep, dreaming about pools of runny Camembert.
The next day, Mari was woken up by Tikki pulling her hair. "Wake up Marinette, or you'll be late for school!".
"MMHH" groaned Marinette, then all of a sudden she leaped out of bed.
"Tikki, Adrien must have gotten his gift by now!" she exclaimed. She rushed on she clothes, grabbed her pack, and ran downstairs.
"Bye Mom!" she said as she rushed to school. As she entered class, she saw the usual, Chloe flipping her hair and Alya waving at her. But as her eyes moved to Adrien, she saw him looking down at his paper, frowning. What's wrong? she wanted to ask him. Throughout class, Adrien kept looking back a Mari, dreading the time he decided to say it. Stop Adrien, she's expecting your answer, and you can't keep her hoping for something that's never going to happen he thought. At the end of the day, he stopped Marinette right before she left.
