Tabitha Cottrell smiled gently, looking over the rolling hills of the Kingdom's moors. Her dark brown eyes scanned the vast green expanse.Footsteps. Her head whipped around, her dark ponytail slapping her neck as she turned. Marlyn, the Kingdom's heiress, and her best friend stood there, clad in a bright green shirt and blue shorts. Her short, blonde hair fell across her shoulders, glowing yellow in the mid-day sun.
"Heeyyaa Tabby~" She greeted, her singsong voice ringing out through the quiet countryside. The brunette groaned. She turned away, tilting her head to the sky.Tabby closed her eyes, the sun's rays warming her face.
"Do you have to say it like that?" She asked. The other giggled, sitting down beside her."Yes.Yes I do." Marlyn flopped down on the grass, making a star shape with her body. Tabby soon followed, her ponytail billowing out behind her, acting as a pillow. The two sat in silence for a couple of minutes, just enjoying eachothers company. Tabby lay, relaxed, but something was nagging at the back of her mind, and as the silence reigned on, it moved closer to her most important thoughts. Finally, she sighed, sitting up."Marlyn?"Tabby asked, recieving a murmur from her friend, who was sheilding her eyes as she lay." Do you believe in.. in werewolves?" It was Marlyn's turn to sit up." You've heard them too?" The princess asked, her blue eyes wide in fear.
"What.. oh..yeah, yeah I have."Tabby smiled, unsure of if she should let her friend know the truth. The sky turned dark.Marlyn groaned." I should have known this good weather wouldn't last long! It's a storm!"She hurriedly got up,pulling her best friend up with her. Still holding onto Tabby's hand, Marlyn began to run back to the Kingdom's gates. The pair passed farms, abandoned tools scattered on the soil.
Soon, the two had reached the open gates. Tabby rushed in,her friend only a couple of paces in front of her. Marlyn stopped for a second." Tabbs? You wanna come into the castle until the storm's over?"She asked, the first few raindrops hitting her nose. Tabitha nodded, and the two rushed to the castle doors.
Once inside, Marlyn rushed ot a cupboard near the entrance for a couple of towels. She handed one ot Tabby, and used one to dry her own hair. Once dry enough, Marlyn turned to Tabitha." You left some clothes here last time, so you can wear those." The younger nodded, follwing the Princess to her quaters.
Tabby smiled gently, thinking of Marlyn as she wriggled into a grey hoodie. She caught a glimpse of her reflection in a mirror, and she slowly, mechanically walked towards it. Staring at her reflection, she moved a bit of hair out of her face. She sighed, looking down sadly.
I'm a monster..
