Scarlett wiped away the tears that blurred her vision. The rain was hitting hard against the snow covered windshield as she drove through the winter night. Her phone started ringing. Wiping her nose with the back of her sleeve, she grabbed her phone from her bag on the passenger side. Looking at the caller I.D, she threw it back to the seat. She wasn't going to deal with his bullshit. She was in this mess because of him. The sound of honking snapped her attention back to the road as headlights blinded her. She swerved out of the way, avoiding the car.
The next thing happened so fast, a semi-truck slammed into her. The collision mixed with the wet pavement and snow made Scarlett's car skid and slid across the road, hitting a rail, and flipping the car over into a dark ditch. The car smacked right into a tree causing her to hit her head into the steering wheel. It took awhile for Scarlett's vision to come into focus.
Smoke started filling the car causing Scarlett to start coughing from inhaling too much of the smoke. She covered her mouth with one hand, and used the other to pull the seatbelt off, but it wouldn't budge. Freaking out, she started yelling for someone to help her. Her voice kept cracking and making it harder to scream. She started pounding on the window to try and break it, but was no use as she started becoming weak. The smoke was increasing rapidly, her eyes watering, and the coughing becoming more intense.
Scarlett could make out some movement around her car. She heard shouting, but couldn't make out what was being said; it sounded too muffled. The sirens of police cars, fire trucks, and an ambulance screamed through the air, coming closer. She started feeling dizzy, her breathing slowing down, and her body becoming numb by the minute. As her vision started to blur, the last thing she saw was someone forcing the door open before she fell into a dark slumber.
