I peered my head around the corner to see what was coming for me next. 2 goblins stood at the door. They held there long, sharp staffs. I turned quickly to find 2 giant ogars running for me. I ran towards the goblins. They looked at me and shielded the doors with there staffs. Suddenly, Brady and Kelly barged through the door with a bulldozer, knocking out the two guard goblins. "Get on!" Brady yelled to me while motioning 'get on' with his hand. "We found him" Kelly looked at me and smiled.
Wait a second, this isn't merely the beginning. Let's go back to where it all started.
Hi, I'm Marly Swendel. My life, I guess you can say is pretty tough. My dad's gone and my mom's in a funk. Although I do have two of the greatest best friends ever, Brady and Kelly. Brady is more on the shy side but he's an amazing athlete. And Kelly is sweet and outgoing. She'a a cheerleader so she always has pep! Brady's parents past away two years ago. He still has hope though because they never found the bodies, but he needs to let go. He lives with his always grouchy Aunt, Kate. Personally, I would just want to live alone. He never wants to go home. He just crams himself with things to do. He plays soccer, football, baseball, and he goes to open gym basketball when ever he can.
I woke up with an annoying pain in my right shoulder. I normally don't get pains like this one. I got out of bed and walked into the kitchen. I opened the freezer to find 80 different ice packs. I chose one and held it to my shoulder. It was cold. Chills ran throughout my shoulder. My hand started to turn numb after holding it awhile. I threw it back in the freezer. I walked over to the couch, next to the tiny tv we use to watch all of our shows. I sat down and turned on Saturday cartoons. I watched the Flinstones before my mom got up. She sat down next me. She was in her sweats and hoodie. She's been wearing that for like a month now. She's in a funk, ever since dad went missing 46 days ago. No sign of where he went. Mother says he left us but I don't want to believe it. My father was happy here. I got up and walked into the kitchen. My mother followed. Izzi finally woke up and walked down stairs. She had her soft zebra print blanket wrapped around her. Mom walked over to her and picked up the part that was dragging behind her.
"You'll wear a hole in this" Mother said while shoving the blanket into Izzi's hands. Izzi threw her blanket onto the table. I just stared at her as she walked around the island. She always tries to be perfect at everything. It annoys me. But she is perfect. She has long, silky, blond hair, perfect skin, and she's a straight A student. She's a sixth grader and she thinks she knows everything because she's in double advanced. I'm in all the basic classes with Brady and Kelly.
Izzi looked at me and noticed I was starring. She snapped at me. I rolled my eyes and walked back in to my room. It was dark. I had no windows in my room. I felt for a light switch on the wall. When I found it, I flicked it on. There was a little light in the corner shedding a little amount of light. It dangled from the ceiling. It was right next to my bed. My small, uncomfortable bed. It was the only thing in my room along with my two stuffed animals that laid on the ground next to my bed and the tiny mirror that hung on the wall. No carpet, just the stained, cement, ugly colored floor. And the darkness, the thing I've been afraid of forever. I didn't have a big room like the other kids in my class. I wasn't at all as rich as everyone else. We have a main floor and a basement. My room was in the basement with the kitchen, and laundry. Izzi and mom get bedrooms on the main floor. While I get the tiny, dark room in the basement.
