My head tilted in confusion as I stared at the front lawn of our university. There are students with different uniforms huddled at the stage side, and in the middle, the athletes, wearing their jerseys with their University name painted on it.
Oh. First day of the Inter School Meet.
As I keep on walking, drums started rolling and the crowd cheered hard. I placed my both hands on my ear, i'm afraid i'm already deaf. I didn't mind saying 'excuse me' as I kept on bumping some students. They are too busy jumping and cheering for their school athlete representatives.
I walked past the crowd and inhaled deeply. I felt suffocated there. Scanning the lawn, across from where I'm standing, I saw Williams basketball team. There stood Shawn holding the University banner together with Brit holding the other side. I growled in my thought when I saw her outfit. It's like I'm looking to an X-ray machine with her body to be scanned. She's only wearing a thin bra. A blue one, with silver linings glistening as the sun hits her. Below, she's wearing a panty-like skirt. Don't make me explain it, I feel like puking right now.
Before I could continue walking, someone behind Shawn waved at my direction. I looked behind and found no one. I pulled my glasses on the pocket of my bag. I looked closely and realized it was Lucas waving at me. Knowing that I saw him, he pointed at me and mouthed 'come here'. My eyebrows came together in confusion. He stepped forward then looked at me with his pouting face and placed his hands on the level of his chest. Intertwining his hands together with his twinkling eyes, again, he mouthed 'please'.
And bam. I almost fell on the ground. In a blink, I felt this big and continuous thump in my chest. I held my chest, signalling it to stop.
I started walking towards him... Closer... Closer... Closer... And the thump is getting harder... and faster... Ugh. I held the strap of my backpack and gripped it tightly. I swallowed hard before talking to him.
"What now?" Still gripping the strap.
"What 'what now?'?" Imitating my voice. He stepped closer and I almost step back but I fought the urge. He might notice this weird thing in my chest right now. "You could at least say 'Good luck Lil Lu'." He smiled cheekily as he said it but gave me a poker face afterwards.
"Oh. That." I smiled politely. "Well, good luck Lil Lu."
This time, he poked my cheek. "You even forgot that. Ouch." He raised his right hand in the air, signalling for a high five.."Well, thanks, Sab."
I raised my hands as well, and we high fived each other.
He smiled then pointed Shawn using his lips. Spare me. I immediately looked away. Fearing that my chest will explode any moment now.
I took a step closer to Shawn and poked him.
"Hey, Sticky note." Patting my head. He's so tall. I'm almost as the same level of his chest.
"Just passing by. Good luck." I grinned.
"Thanks, Sab." Giving me a thumbs up. Lucas joined him.
"We have a game after lunch. You better watch." Lucas winked.
Please. Enough. This is bullying! He's bullying my heart... What? Shoot me now. That's not cheesy.
"All classes after lunch are cancelled. To support us. So there's no reason for you not to watch." Shawn added.
"Fine." My face is heating and I felt that any moment now, I'll surely be a fresh human tomato.
"See you at the gym." Lucas said.
