[----- START OF CHAPTER ----- ]
The huge oak double doors swung open immediately to reveal a small entrance hall where a middle aged man stood to greet the first years. To Albus, Rose and Roxanne this man was Neville Longbottom another life long friend of the Potter-Weasley clan who had went to Hogwarts with their parents and now was the Herbology teacher. Neville, or Professor, Longbottom was wearing his best dress robes for the occasion and to impress the students he also wore a galleon coin on his robes - everyone who had heard the stories of the Second Wizarding War would know what that coin mean't.
The Entrance Hall was gigantic. It's flaming torch lit stone walls were tall enough that a giant could feel comfortable in there. Across from the first years was an impressive marble staircase which Albus guessed lead to the rest of the castle. On the right of the entrance hall were tall oak double doors
'Here are the firs' years for you' Neville' Hagrid said and after hearing a few giggles he fixed his mistake 'Sorry, I mean't Professor Longbottom' which earn't a few more giggles.
'Thank you Hagrid - Come on in everyone! It must be freezing out there' Professor "Neville" Longbottom welcomed everyone into the surprising warmth of the Entrance Hall. Hagrid closed the doors and waited by them.
'Welcome everyone to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry! As you now know, thanks to my colleage, I am Professor Longbottom'. Professor Longbottom gestured to the large oak double doors on his left 'Through those doors is the Great Hall where you will discover what house you truly belong to. There are four houses. Gryffindor - the house where you will find the bravest and most daring people. Hufflepuff - the house that values hard work, patience and above all loyalty. Ravenclaw - the house where you'll find those with great wisdom and wit. And last but not least Slytherin - the house that values people with ambition and cunning.
'Whilst you spend your time at Hogwarts you will find rule-breaking is punished by detentions and loss of house points but your triumphs are rewarded by earning house points. At the end of your school year the house with the most house points will win the the prestigious House Cup.' Professor Longbottom continued. 'Follow me and you will begin seven years of wondrous magical education!' and with that Professor Longbottom turned and walked, followed by the first years, towards the double doors which magically opened revealing the Great Hall.
The first years walked down the center of the long hall and Albus started to admire it's beauty. He had never imagined anything more spectacular. The Great Hall was just as tall as the Entrance Hall but far longer. Unlike the Entrance Hall you could see the ceiling and it was brilliant to behold - stars twinkled and the moon shone in the sky but the moon and star were under the ceiling - it was magical literally. Four long tables stretched vertically along the hall, each covered with a different coloured twinkling table cloth. At the far end of the hall was a stage where another table stood but horizontally across the stage - Albus guessed this was the staff table considering the fact all the adults were sat there. Infront of the staff table was a stool upon which lay a frayed, tattered and worn-out hat which looked like it would fall to pieces when placed on someones head. Albus realised James had really been lying about the snake. Albus' childish side of his brain started worrying again about whether he was to be placed in Slytherin but the smart side of brain told him that James was only teasing him earlier.
The first years stopped at the front of the hall - just after the tables ended and just before the stage and waited there as Professor Longbottom walked up onto the stage. Professor Longbottom lifted up the Sorting Hat and withdrawed a scroll of parchment from it 'When I read your name you will come and sit on this stool, I will place this hat on your head and it will decide on your house. But first this hat has something to tell you!'.
