Chapter One

It was a Thursday when Emerson Pierce found himself falling out of the sky into a pile of glittery dung.
"Oh my god, are you okay?" He heard a girl's voice shout as two sets of footsteps pound over to where he was currently lying. Emerson slowly picked himself up and started to wipe off his face. Ew, what was this? And wait, where even was he? He blinked and tried to collect his racing thoughts as he looked up to see a girl and boy standing in front of him.
"Are you okay? You fell quite a bit there." The girl asked.
"Uh, yeah. I think so. But who are you and where am I?" Emerson was starting to become confused.
"Who are we? Ha! More like, who the heck are you?" The boy snorted.
"Keefe, shhh," the girl said, turning to Emerson," I'm Sophie, and this is Keefe."
"Oh. Hi. My name's Emerson."
"Nice to meet you, Emerson." Sophie smiled.
"Um, you too, I guess," Emerson paused and looked around, "but I have a quick question. What is this place, and how did I get here?" They appeared to be in a mountain range, and by the looks of it, some sort of zoo.
"Well, I better let someone else explain all this to you, it's a lot to take in. Trust me." Sophie said.
"Should we take him to Everglen? I think Alden will probably be the best at explaining for now." Keefe asked Sophie.
"Yeah, I think that's best."
Sophie pulled a crystal from her pocket, and reached to help Emerson up.
"Okay, Emerson, you're about to experience light leaping."
And they flashed away.
