After that day, Michael dropped me off in my house and promised to call me... which he never did. I don't know why, maybe he was avoiding me? Or just too busy?

Damn, just a simple text won't hurt a second. Gosh.

Well, my subconscious does have a point. But maybe I'm just overreacting.

Sure, it's been 2 days. I think he's keeping something from you.

Okay, you could shut up now, head.

He'll call me if he wanted, I don't want to appear too eager for him. I'll just simply act casual and stuff. Right now, Jimmy called me out on a new assignment. That rarely happens because I only got one and the interval time should be 1-2 weeks, so this one's very early.

I am on my way there when Moose called,

"Hey," I spoke.

"'Sup homie, where you been?" I snorted.

"I am not your 'homie', and I'm on my way to Jimmy's."

"Oh, good. I'll catch you there."

"Huh? Why? Wait--" ...Aaand he hungs up on me. I scoffed and just continued my walk.

By the time I was there, I knocked on the door and there was Jimmy, dressed in a tattered pair of shorts, a faded shirt and stubble growing on his face.

"HEY! I thought y-y-you'd be m-more um, later..." He scratched the back of his head.

"You said I have a new assignment?" I asked, cutting to the chase.

"Yeah, yeah... Come in." He ushered me inside. I sat on his old, creaky couch and he sat across from where I was and sipped on his I'M THE BOSS mug.

"The company called me again and gave me a proposition for you."

I creased my eyebrows, I was usually the 3rd or 4th option in our team, I didn't know why I was the one they specifically asked for. "And...?"

"Well, I'm not supposed to ask this now--not yet, anyways, but--" just as he was to say it, a knock on the door was heard.

"Are ypu expecting anyone?" I asked.

"Not really... Are you?" I gave him a what-the-fuck-are-you-kidding-me look and he just shrugged. I moved to grab the doorknob and opened the door, seeing the gay-est best friend I have.

"Moose?!"

"Told you I was going here." He let himself in and my eyes were moving to where his directions are, leading to the couch beside me.

I decided to shrug off his presence and just continued my business there. "So continuing... what's up?"

Jim brought a brown envelop while sipping on his mug, giving out the ennvelop the me. I reached for it, opening the package and bringing out a piece of paper. It read the company title and their regards.

Good Day, Ms. Tanner!

"Wow." Moose gawked beside me.

"Since when was this?" I asked Jimmy.

He shrugged, finishing off his drink. "They notified me with that package 3 days ago. They also said it has something to do with you, I already assumed it was a project so I called you in and made sure."

I nodded in agreement but what I just read never fully sinking in.
"So..." Moose chimed, "Are you getting it?"

"I'm uh, not sure." I said. "They said until the next month, I'm taking my time."

"DUDE!" Moose--quite harshly--slapped my arm and I screamed in pain, he only continued talking. "The job of a lifetime is basically right in front of you! What's stopping you?!"

I sighed, "Moose, it's not that easy. I'm still in college and of course my parents--"

"That's easy! You can just file an absence form for job purposes and do extra work and I'm sure your folks would be too happy for you to decline this! C'mon, man, where's your sense of adventure?" Moose reasoned.

"Look, Texon." I retorted, "I'm not rushing this. Like what you said, this is a big desicion! I'm not gonna act out easily into this and end up regretting it in the end in anyway possible."

Moose only huffed and muttered something along the lines of "you're being dumb" or something.

As for me, I really want to say yes the moment I finished reading the letter. It's just this small voice screaming out the thought: What about Michael?

I just had to listen to it.
