Nash stood up with a wide smile on his face. "Sammy! You finally made it."
"Yeah, that last minute meeting ended early so I was able to squeeze a few minutes here before my next one." Sammy explained a little gruffly. He didn't like to show any kind of friendliness during a business meeting.
To him business was business and friendships & relationships had no room in it .
Except for his friendship with Nash. That was different.
He learned that the hard way with a girl he was dating who was looking for someone to invest in her small business. As soon as she found out what Sammy did, things changed and she began insisting that she meet with Nash.
He ended that as soon as he realized.
Nash rolled his eyes at Sammy's reaction, he knew how Sammy felt and usually he agreed with him but he also trusted his gut instinct with Cameron.
He had a beautiful soul and a profitable business that could possibly grow internationally, definitely nationally as he had expressed to Cameron.
Cameron stood as well and with an open smile on his face, he reached his hand out. "Such a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Wilkinson."
Sammy's gaze flickered to Cameron's outstretched hand, he had the urge to ignore it but one glance at his best friend, he briefly shook Cameron's hand.
They took seats on the couch and Sammy took in how close the other two were sitting.
"What's the pitch?" He asked blandly and gave an air of not interested.
"I've already agreed to invest in Cameron's spa business so that it can rapidly expand. He has a current building where he has a day spa and an area where he can host one getaway booking per weekend. The plan is to expand the getaway portion, we'll purchase a building in the right location and turn that into a resort spa. Nothing too big, maybe 20 suites max. Then we'll bring in the marketing department to promote both locations and the grand opening of the resort spa. We'll also have IT overhaul the website, make it secure and all of that." Nash told him with an excited tone of voice that Sammy hadn't seen in a long time.
But he couldn't allow his friend to make a mistake. Especially not because the owner had somehow brought Nash under his spell.
"And all of that?" Sammy repeated flatly. "Where's the business plan?"
He directed his question to Cameron who glanced at Nash unsurely.
"No business plan?" Sammy asked with an incredulous tone. That's not how him and Nash did business.
"Well, he already has a business and it's profitable-" Nash started to answer but Sammy cut him off.
"How do you know it's profitable? Have you seen the books?" He asked coolly but already knew the answer.
"No, but I've seen-"
"You're going to say you've seen the location and that alone is enough for you?" Sammy spitted out. He was getting annoyed with Nash's laid back attitude about potentially investing millions into a business that no one on their team had researched, there was no proposal and not even numbers they could look at.
Cameron had been looking back and forth at Nash and Sammy, a pit grew in his stomach where excitement had just been.
Nash glanced at Cameron and was unhappy to see his normally smiley expression had been replaced with a frown.
"Nash, maybe we should-" Cameron started to say but was rudely interrupted by Sammy, who seemed to have a bad habit of doing so. Cameron was trying hard to be polite but Sammy was making it very difficult.
"Maybe we should indefinitely shelve this idea." Sammy finishes for him, a look of superiority on his face.
Cameron straightened his back. He was not going to say no to the opportunity Nash presented him, not matter what Sammy believed.
"I'm the one who invited him here to meet with me, Sam." Nash explained through gritted teeth. "I just wanted you to meet with him since as the head of marketing, you will be working closely together."
"Nash, you can't possibly be serious. He's unprepared for this meeting, anyone else would have spent the night gathering what was needed. Even a quick presentation with bullet points and basic financials would have been fine for a last minute meeting." Sammy explained, his glance to Cameron showed a bowed head. He, at the very least, had finally gotten through to Cameron.
Cameron chewed his bottom lip, upset because Sammy was right. Instead of doing some last minute payroll and ordering some supplies that could have waited, he should have at least done what Sammy said. He should have come up with his expansion plan and numbers.
He hadn't realized how big of a deal Nash's company actually was.
He peeked at Nash, worried that Sammy's insistence had broken through his decision to invest in Cameron's business.
"I get where you're coming with all that, Sammy. But somtimes there's this thing called gut instinct. As soon as I saw the location, I knew that it could be expanded. It's a solid small business, the owner is invested in its growth and my GUT told me to set up this meeting. I'm telling you, I've already made the decision. I can assign someone else for the marketing if you can't get behind it." Nash said firmly, he placed a hand on Cameron's knee and squeezed it gently. He showed him he still supported him.
"We'll talk more later," Sammy said and he knew he wouldn't be able to convince Nash to change his mind. But he promised himself he'd keep trying until the point of no return.
"I have another meeting to get to. Cameron, hopefully the next time we meet, you'll have something concrete," he said dismissively at him and after nodding at Nash, he stood and left, closing the door behind him.
Cameron let out a deep breath and relaxed after Sammy left.
"He's kind of a hard ass..." he told Nash with a cheeky smile, he tried to relax the atmosphere.
"I'm sorry, baby. I didn't adequately prepare you for him. But... don't feel guilty about not having a presentation. That's not the vibe I gave you and I should have made that clear to him." Nash murmured in apology, he brought Cameron's face close to his and gave him a soft kiss on his plump lips.
Cameron moaned into his kiss, his worries melted away easily.
"Mr. Grier, your 1 o'clock is here." His assistant's voice came through the intercom interrupting their kiss.
"Fuck," Nash muttered and reluctantly pulled away from Cameron's addictive lips.
"Meet me for dinner tonight? Text me your home address and I'll pick you up," Nash asked a question but he fully expected Cameron to say yes.
"Mmm, I guess I can make some time for you in my busy schedule," he murmured teasingly before he leaned back in and pressed one last kiss on Nash's lips.
Nash chuckled lowly before he stood up and helped Cameron stand as well.
"I'll see you tonight, beautiful." Nash stole one final kiss from Cameron before he let him leave.
