Chapter 4

Bright lights. Thats all I could see so I quickly closed my eyes again and tried to go to sleep. Where was I again? I couldn't remember anything. I opened my eyes deciding that I wouldn't be able to go to sleep. Then I heard someone, a male voice though I couldn't figure out who it was. Was it my dad? Where was I? "Guy's she's awake!" the voice said, I quickly decided it wasn't my father because it didn't sound anything like him. "Oh my god, Lily! Are you okay?" I heard Leah say as she came up next to the bed. I quickly decided that I was in the hospital but I didn't know for what. "Of course she's not fine Leah! She was just in an accident!" I heard Jamie say as she also came up to the bed. Accident? What were they talking about? I wasn't in an accident. The last thing I remebered I was at home sleeping peacefully after my last day of Freshman year before summer. "What are you guys talking about? I wasn't in an accident. And why am I in the hospital?" I said quickly trying to get up so I could go home, but I suddenly felt dizzy and Jamie pushed my back into the bed. "Stay down Lily, you hurt your head pretty bad." she said. "Ya babe, don't want you hurting yourself anymore." the male voice that I had heard when I woke up said. "BABE? I don't even know you and your calling me babe? Who the hell do you think you are?" I said. Okay he was deffinetly creeping me out.

"Who do I think I am?" he said obviously hurt. "It's me, Nick, you know, your boyfriend!" Nick said.

"What no I don't have a boyfriend! I am a happy SINGAL girl." I said "Besides even if I were dating someone, I don't even know a Nick!"

He was deffinetly hurt now, and when I looked over to Leah and Jamie for support they just looked at me like I was crazy. "Tell him guys, I'm not dating a Nick."

"Uh, actualy, you kinda are." Jamie said "You guys have been dating sence the begingin of Sophmore year, this year." Leah added.

"Sophmore year? What? No we just ended Freshman year. We haven't even entered Sophmore year!" I said these guys were obviously playing some sort of prank on me right? Ya thats it they're playing a prank on me. "Oh I get it, ha ha very funny guys." I said and turned to Nick "You can go now I get that they're playing some sort of prank and dragged you into it." He just looked at me with concern but also confusion and said "I'm going to go get the doctor, tell him she's awake but doesn't remeber anything." and walked away.

A few minutes later the doctor came in and ran some standared tests. "I'm telling you, I'm fine!" I said.

"There doesn't seem to be anything to serious physicaly wrong." the doctor said "Whats the last thing you remember Lily?"

I looked at him, thought for a couple minutes then said "I was going to bed after the last day of school of FRESHMAN year, then I woke up here. Will someone please tell me whats going on!"

"Its seems to me she has amnesia." the docotr said.

Jamie, Leah, and Nick looked at hime and said at the same time "No duh! How do we fix it?"

"Well you don't really fix it as much as you try and help her remember everything, maybe take her to the last thing she was doing, do any of you know what that was?" the doctor said.

"Ya she was at my house and we were watching a movie, then we got into this stuoid fight because I thought she was cheating on me but she said she wasn't. Then she walked out crying before we settled it. I tryed calling her back so we could settle it but she just drove off, next thing I knew I got a call saying she was in a crash and being rushed here." Nick said.

Crash? "Okay someone deffinetly needs to tell me whats going on now!" I said.

Leah and Jamie looked at each other then Leah said, "You were in a car accident, according to the other guy you ran the stop sign and he didn't have time to break before he saw you and hit you dead on. You lost a lot of blood and blacked out." Car accident? ran the stop sign? That didn't sound like me. "Why would I run the stop sign?" I said. "We were kind of hoping you could tell us that." Jamie said.

"Well obviously I can't because I have no memory of this." I said

My parents came in shortly after Leah called them and told them I was awake. They had apparently been in Paris on buisness when the accedent happened and flew back as soon as they got word of what happened. This wasn't new to me, my whole childhood my parents have been flying around the world taking care and checking in on all of their hotels they own. It started shortly after my father, my mother and my brother got kidnapped for ransom money. My family has always been rich and people know this. They told the cops that if they didn't have the money to them by noon they would shoot the little boy, Rick was his name.

Noon came and went and by 12:30 when they got the money to the kidnappers Rick was dead. My parents didn't think they could handle a loss like that again so when I came along 7 months later they decided to keep their distance from me. Always working and never talking to me unless its was extreamly important. They thought if they could keep they're distance then they wouldn't fall in love with me, but decided to keep me so they wouldn't look bad to the press. I grew up with nannies, they were more my parents then my real ones ever were. They where the ones I would go to with boy troubles, when I started, and when i needed help with my homework. They would tuck me in at night and check for monsters under my bed when I was little. And even though i knew they were just being paid to do all this stuff it still was better than the cold shoulder i got fron my parents.

I looked over at my dad who was sitting on one side of my bed to see him clicking away at his cell phone. I looked to the other side to see my mom whispering into her cell phone. I sighed, this is how it always was but i always wish that somehow I could change it.

Just then Leah and Jamie walked in holding food that looked disgusting but honestly rigght now I didn't care. I was STARVING. It felt like I hadn't eaten in years!

"Hey, we come bearing food." Leah said

"Yay! I'm starved!" I said as Jamie handed me the food

Just then a nurse came in and checked my vitals. "Do you think it would be ok if I went for a walk around the hospital with my friends?" I asked the nurse just as she was about to leave. "Ya, I think that would be fine, good actually, you need to get those leggs working better again. If you keep laying around in this hospital bed then thats all your ever going to do, lay around." The nurse said laughing as she walked out. I gathered all the tubes and lifted myself from the bed and started walking to the door with Jamie on my left and Leah on my right.
