POV: Katze - Yellow Team
5 hours remaining
The island was cold. Like, freezing cold.
The entire island was covered in cold white snow, reflecting any light that shone upon it. I was on a clearing, with a cave entrance inset into a hill. The hill was covered in spruce and pine trees, and behind it was a dense forest of the same trees. Behind the forest was a rocky mountain, snow covering the peak. One side was a vertical cliff with a huge, thick spruce growing out from it. The other side was a steep hill, coated in snow. Stone spikes popped out of the ocean around our island, the waves washing the icy shores all around us.
I decided to go get some food, so that when I get hungry I do not have to wander around, looking for some edible meat. And if I was too late, maybe all the animals could be long dead, and I would have to beg for food. And if nobody gave me anything, I would slowly starve to death. Doesn't sound good.
I spotted that I had a bow in my left hand, and a leather quiver with three arrows on my back. The bow was nice, made from strong wood. At first, I had no idea how did those things appear in my hands, but then I realized that I had the arrows and my bow from the Archer kit I chose in the paper when I was signing up. I also saw some people with apples, axes, or even dynamite sticks in their hands. Those are probably the Apple, Berserker and Bomber kit. Some people along with me had the Archer kit, but I didn't know what the Brawler or Destructor kit did to you. I will surely find out myself...
As I wandered the island, looking for food, I realized that my island was short on animals. Luckily, I spotted a pig, slipping and sliding on ice near our frozen shore. I hate blood and gore, I find human or animal innards and bodily fluids disgusting, and many people do. Some do not care about blood, but I do. But I seriously needed food.
I scanned my surroundings, looking for a sharp piece of stone or an icicle to stab the animal to death, because I didn't want to waste my precious three arrows. As I looked around, I realized that nobody told me to actually shoot the arrow, and it wasn't written in stone that I must not pull the arrow out of the animal after. I reached back into my quiver and grabbed an arrow, then paced towards the poor, helpless animal.
"I have to do this, pig, I'm sorry." I spoke to the animal as if it could reply to me.
I grabbed the animal with one of my hands, the other one holding my arrow. I faced away, not ready for the gore, and started stabbing the creature with my arrow repeatedly. Blood dripped on both of my hands, as the animal slipped out of my hand, landing on the snowy ground with a quiet thud. I did not want to see the gore, but I had to pull the animal away somewhere to cook it into edible steak. I turned around, and saw the pig, lying on the ground, dead. My hands and the arrow tip were both stained in pig blood, and there was a gaping hole in the side of the the animal. The sight was disgusting. I overcame my fears, and grabbed the pig carcass by two legs, and pulled it around, trying to find a safe place where people will not try to steal and gobble up my precious food source.
After a while, I stumbled upon a single, lone, large tree stump, popping out of the ground. The wood was rotting, I could break it open with my shoe. As I stepped onto the stump, I spotted that the ground and the entire stump actually descended into the ground a bit. The ground was just a tiny bit under the rest of ground, but I spotted the small difference, and decided to explore the tree stump further.
I first scanned the wooden stub, looking for any clues about what might be under it. But then, it caught that the stump only lowered when I stepped on it, and realized that I had to step on it for a while to weaken and drop down the stump. So, I started stomping on the thing, the stump and ground slowly sinking down. The pig carcass lied next to me. I was desperate to find out what was under that lone stump, what secrets lied under it. The piece of ground slowly, but surely descended. But suddenly, cloud of snow emerged from the ground, dust got into my eyes and the entire piece of ground and the rotten tree stump along with me collapsed down into empty darkness below.
