The loch ness monster is a legend that takes place around Loch Ness lake. ( Loch Ness lake is located in the Scottish highlands). That's where the loch ness monster gets it's name. Some people also nicknamed it nessie. So the first sighting of the loch ness monster took place on may 2, 1933. Someone was by the lake and saw the loch ness monster. Later he reported to the local press about what he saw in the paper. In the paper, he claimed to have saw "an enormous monster rolling around in the water". A circus near Loch Ness offered a two thousand pound reward for the capture of it. Of course, people tried to find it but never did. Here is a picture of the newspaper:
So what is the loch ness monster? Some people say that it's a sea serpent, others say that it is a descendant of the plesiosaurs, a sea dinosaur. Now get ready for a history lesson. The plesiosaurs first appeared in the latest Triassic period, so about 205 million years ago. But scientists believe that the plesiosaurs died off 65 million years ago with all of the other dinosaurs. But those other dinosaurs were on land. The plesiosaurs could've just hid in an underwater cave to protect itself from the meteor. Over time, the population of plesiosaurs would've grown. That's a theory that I read online, it seems believable. But there is also a reason that could prove that nessie is a hoax. But here is a model skeleton of what scientists think a plesiosaurs looks like:
It looks like the skeleton of nessie.
Over the past seventy years, people searched for the beast. This took form in many ways, ranging from scuba diving to miniature submarines or even fishing boats. They have never found it, nor any trace of it. Now here is the reason why nessie is a hoax. In 2003, a team of researchers sponsored by BBC took on the most thorough and largest search for the loch ness monster. In a submarine, they used 600 separate sonar beams and satellite navigation to try to find nessie. Not to mention the several strong flashlight beams mounted onto the submarine. One of the lead searchers, Ian Florence, quoted in a BBC interview, "We went from shoreline to shoreline, top to bottom on this one, we have covered everything in this loch, and we saw no signs of any large animal living in this loch"
That is proof. If you're in a submarine with strong flashlight beams and 600 sonar and satellite beams, you are sure to find any trace of the loch ness monster. They did not find anything, which means that the loch ness monster, is fake. Unless, they covered it up and left nessie alone. I think that the loch ness monster is real, and Ian Florence told the press that nessie is fake. I would have done the same to leave Nessie alone, in peace, undisturbed. Comment below on what you think.
