It was never quiet in Manhattan, so when police sirens woke me up at two a.m. I wasn't surprised. I was , however, still frightened. I , Amber Anne, would be starting the sadistic , less political, highschool of musical arts in downtown Manhattan tomorrow. This means I do need my sleep. All summer long my parents talked about how amazing it was that would be going here, only a few kids got in. Out of all the girls in manhattan that played violin I don't see how it happened but I was grateful nonetheless. With this still fresh in my mind, I slowly drifted back to sleep.
The next morning was a blur. I woke up late, no surprise there, and quickly ate my breakfast. After ten minutes of parents' "we're so proud of you" lecture I bolted out of the apartment. I had to catch a subway a few blocks away after all. My best friend Cam usually would've walked with me on the first day of school but he didn't have any musical talents, much less any talent for that matter. He would walk alone, or with his girlfriend Amy today.
I caught the subway, after buying a small donut and headed uptown. About two minutes into the ride I caught a glance at a handsome stranger. You know those awkward eye contact moments, well it was like that but with sparks. Maybe I'm just a boy-crazy teenage girl. I did, however, notice he had a nice guitar case sitting against his knee, I couldn't help but wonder if he was on the same path as me.
