It was 1:30, and I was late. I rushed, panting, as I finally entered the park, Garroth was already there. I clutched the strap of my bag, that was full of art supplies.
"Hey." I said, walking up to him.
"Hi!" He smiled at me, with a slight blush on his cheeks.
"What's with your face...?" I pointed at him, which made his face more red with embarrassment. He covered his face with his hands to hide the fact that he was blushing. He stayed quiet with his hands still on his face.
"Oh, did I make you uncomfortable...? I'm sorry... It's just new for me to have a friend that's a guy..." I scratched the back of my neck, feeling guilty of making him feel bad.
"N-no. It's fine... I-I'm fine..." He stuttered as he raised his head.
"So... Do you want to get started...?"
"S-sure!" I sat down on a park bench and dropped my bag down. I zipped it open and took out a sketch book and some pencils. I took out an extra sketch book for Garroth. He was still standing watching me. I looked up and handed him a pencil and the sketch book with a warm smile. He jumped at my gesture, but calmed down, sat beside me, and accepted the items.
"We're going to start with something basic." I told him. I looked down at my sketch book and started to draw something.
"We're going to start off with a small basic cat." I drew a circle. "You want to lightly draw a circle like this." I drew it and waited for him to copy. He did it alright but it could have been better. I let it slide, since he wasn't all that good at drawing and he really need help. We went most of the day like that, slowly getting through the drawing. When we were done, I looked at his drawing.
"Well done, Garroth!" I praised him. "This is actually very good!"
"R-really?!" I nodded.
"Yes! You did it Garroth! You drew a very good picture!" I got up. He got up and hugged me. My eyes widened and I blushed a light pink. I was surprised at his action. He let go.
"O-oh I-I'm s-sorry... I-I didn't m-mean that..." He stammered, looking away, hiding his blushing face and scratched the back of his neck.
"I-It's fine..."
"Thank you for this lesson..."
"You're welcome."
"To thank you, I will take you out!" He declared.
"W-what! T-there's no need for that! I did this out of kindness. I don't need anything in return!"
"Nonsense! This is the way I will thank you! I will pick you up at around 6:30!" He left with that and I didn't even get to say anything back. I was stood there, blushing and confused to what had just happened. I stared toward to where Garroth ran off, dumbfounded. When I finally snapped out of my trance, I looked back at the bench. He didn't even take his sketch book... Why... This all so sudden... I don't know what to do... I tell my mom or she will freak out and hunt Garroth down... I sighed and collected all my stuff and stuffed it into my bag. When I was crouched down beside my bag, a large shadow loomed over me. I turned to see who it was and it was Laurance.
"Hey Y/N!"
"Oh hey..."
"You seem down..."
"Is it that noticeable...?" He nodded.
"Let's talk." He sat on the bench and I stopped packing my bag and sat beside him. I sighed and started to explain my problem.
"So, today I was teaching Garroth how to draw. He actually drew the picture pretty well. He hugged me and he's going to take me out tonight to say his thanks. I don't know what to do because I've never been on a date, if that's what you even call this..." There was a small silence as I waited for him to respond. I looked down at my feet. I didn't want to meet eye contact since I was in no mood for it.
"So Garroth finally got the gut to ask someone out, huh...?" He mumbled.
"Huh?"
"Oh nothing..." He shifted and looked at me. "If you really don't know what to do then just be yourself. If he really likes you for who you are then you don't have to worry about embarrassing yourself in front of him."
"Wow, you really know what to do on these..."
"I'm just saying what I would say if I asked you out..." I met his gaze, eyes widened. "I m-mean not like I would ever ask you out or anything..." He looked away, his cheeks a bit pink. I giggled at his reaction. I checked the time.
"Oh I'm sorry, Laurance but I really must go..." I grabbed my bag and stood up. I waved my goodbye and left. What a day... I thought as I was walking home. I wonder what tomorrow will be like...?
