Recap:

I started to pace around the room, frantically blowing off the candles and clearing the flowers off the bed. Thereby, completely ruining the romantic aura the room was emanating. I had to get rid of these before my husband showed up..that is if he does come. No! I did not need him to get the wrong idea. I was not the same as all his other 'mistresses'.

"And what are you doing darling?" His derisive drawl caused me to drop the flowers I had hurridely gathered.

"I--"

His chuckles hauntingly nuzzled my ears as he slowly picked up the fallen roses. One by one. His arrogantly long fingers caressed each bud tracing their outline while his blue eyes pierced into my skin. Watching me. Challenging me. Showing me what would happen tonight...only this time it wouldn't be the flowers subjected to his touch but me.

"I see that you are quite eager to consummate our marriage, wifey."

"I--no." I vehemently shook my head. "You are wrong. The maids--"

"-forced you into this piece of silk, hmm?" he finished what I started but the only difference was that he made it sound like a lie. A filmsy excuse to feign innocence. I grimaced at the darkness of his thoughts. Instantly, my heart reached out to him with sympathy. For him to turn so cynical, he must have been through a lot--

Abruptly, his hands were on my shoulders yanking down the straps of the dress.

"No!" I wrapped my hands around my chest to prevent the dress from slipping off my body.

"Why are you here? What do you plan to achieve from marrying me?" His hands were replaced with his hot mouth while his fingers snaked around my waist and pulled me close to the hardness of his muscular body. A very feminine sigh of appreciation unconciously escaped my lips.

"I--" Heat rapidly flowed through my core jolting me back to the hard, cold reality. I gave his chest a push and stepped back. "Your--"

His angry eyes narrowed as he grabbed my chin and studied my face. "Let's stop with I-am-virgin routine, shall we? Been there, seen that." he rolled his eyes with sadistic humor. "You are just another power hungry whore who would do anything for your own ends."

"No. You're-"

"Wrong?" he laughed humorlessly. "Oh honey, I don't think so."

I started to tremble once again. Only this time he wasn't the cause. I was scared. Scared of my pyhsical response to him. What must have been a cold, calculated snide for him was a hot, arousing experience for me. Definetly my first. Tears pricked my eyes as his venomous words shattered my heart.

"These tears.." he smiled."...might have fooled my brother but they would never fool me. Never again." A spark of vulnerability sparked into his eyes but he blinked it away.

"What-What do you mean by that?" I asked not really understanding the meaning behind his words.

"Do you really want me to spell your involvement with my brother out?" his mouth twisted wryly. "You thought I didn't know, did you? I am not blind, my dear wife. "

Realization finally hit home and I gasped at the poison in words and mind. "I have never slept with anyone before let alone your brother!" I gritted my teeth to control the sadness ready to explode within me. "I did not--" I sobbed out.

"Save it for someone who cares or believes in you." was his taut reply to my outburst. "I am bored." He spun around to leave. "Don't go crying to  my brother. You are my wife. Mine. Remember that."

Collapsing on the floor, I cried all my despair away. Cried until there were no more tears left to be shed. Cried till sleep finally seeked me out.

Marks. There were marks on my shoulder blades. Very obvious red-brown lines embedded my unusually pale skin. It must have been from yesterday. From...my husband. I shuddered at the memory of last night. His coldness and my unreserved response to his sexual persuasion. Clearing my mind of all disturbing thoughts, I chose a full sleeved red dress for the day. Its dark corset was beaded with sparkling, black sequins while its skirt smoothly flowed down till the floor.

After changing into my dress for the day, I sat down in front of the mirror and slowly brushed my hair. It was very early in the morning. The whole palace was asleep except for me--

A sound- more like a chime of tiny bells interupted my train of thoughts. I instinctively got up and followed the sound. As I got nearer, I heard giggles of a young girl. I increased my pace and came face to face with a young girl-no more than five- smiling mischieviously at me.

Her eyes were the same as the woman who stabbed me almost a month ago.

"Hey! Wait-!" I called out as she started to run away.

Stupidly, I ran after her.

And that was one of the biggest mistakes I had ever made...
