Alice is going to the store to pick up milk. She hears a crash and turns around to the busy street. Not seeing anything, she continues on her way when suddenly a old-fashion blue police box lands on its side in front of her.
"Police telephone, free for the use of public," she reads the sign. The door flings open and two men fall out looking rather beat up.
"When are we? Where are we?" One with a suit and hair sticking up asks. "You, what's the date?" he demands as the other one dusts himself off.
"Uh... London, 2013. July 16th." She replied, very confused. "Who are you maniacs?"
"I'm the Doctor," he looks around distractedly then grins at her. "And who, exactly, are you?"
Totally weirded out, replies, "Alice. Alice White. Doctor Who?" She offers her hand.
"Just the Doctor," he replies shaking her hand. Just then Jack comes back from looking around the area, not that the other two had noticed him leave.
"Doctor, it seems as thou- Hello!" his attitude went from 'there is a crisis' to flirtatious in a matter of seconds. "And who might you be?" he winks.
"Okay..." She furrows her brow and looks him down. "Alice White. And you?" She bites her lip a little and offers her hand cautiously.
He takes it and kisses it, "Captain Jack Harkness, at your service."
She blushes slightly, but doesn't look flattered. "Sure. So what happened to this... 'thing'?" She gestures to the blue box with a look of worry on her face.
"Oh, I just crashed it-" the Doctor starts.
"Again," Jack cuts in.
"I just need to get it upright and get the swimming pool back into the library and we'll be a-ok. And I'm never saying that again," the Doctor finishes, looking at the box trying to figure out how to get it up.
"Crashed? Again? You have a library in a swimming pool!? Do you see how tiny that thing is? You're bloody insane!" She says sternly, holding her hand out palm-up at the box.
"Of course I am. How else would I be able to crash a TARDIS so badly the swimming pool ended up in the billiard room?" he replies. Jack just looks at Alice, unsure of what to do.
Alice closed her eyes momentarily, trying to make sense of what he just said. "What did you call it?" She asked irritably, opening her eyes again.
"TARDIS," he replies brightly.
She sighed. "I have to ask..." She mumbles. "What is a 'TARDIS'?"
"Time and Relative dimension in space, it's my time machine!" He replies
She looks to Jack. "Are you taking care of him or something? Why is he on the streets?" She asks, very confused and not feeling very polite.
"Ah, no," Jack laughs lightly. "You'll see," he smirks and the two men try to get the box up right.
She watches them skeptically, wanting to help but thinking that she would just get in the way... besides. She wasn't sure if she wanted to help two madmen.
They finally get it up right and the Doctor turns around and grins, "Wanna come inside?"
Her brows furrow, and after a moment of contemplation, says, "Sure." and walked forward.
The Doctor snaps his fingers and the door opens. He motions for Alice to enter.
Looking around a bit first, she slowly steps in, and then drops her grocery bags in amazement.
Jack grins at her and the Doctor mouths along as she says, "it’s bigger on the inside!"
Alice gapes at the inside, turning around. "My god. What...? Is there something wrong with me!?"
The Doctor, being the curious timelord he is, scans her with the sonic.
She is properly freaked out now, and looks at him with complete and utter confusion. "What the hell is that!?"
"Sonic Screwdriver," he replies, looking at the results. “Nope, not a thing wrong with you. You are in tiptop shape Ms. White."
She takes a few deep breaths to calm herself. "Are we done now? Cos I really need to go see Sherlock about this."
"Wait, Sherlock? Sherlock Holmes?" the Doctor stops his grin fading and he looks at her seriously. Jack looks over at the word Sherlock and whispers something to the Doctor.
She looks quickly between the two. "How do you know him? Did he do something?"
The Doctor smiles again. "Can I give you a ride home?"
She raises an eyebrow. "This thing doesn't have wheels."
"Your point is? Jack close the door," he hits a few switches and pumps a thingy.
She looked back to the doors worriedly. "Uh..." She gives up on thinking rationally. "Screw it. Take me home."
He grins. "221b Baker Street here we come!" He hits more dials and there's a wheezing sound. He runs around the control panel.
She watches with disbelief, then looks to Jack. "And this is normal?"
"Ya," he states.
She quickly looks him down, deducting what she can. She sighs and turns back to watch the Doctor.
The wheezing sound comes back and he hits a button with his foot. Everything stops and he motions towards the door. "After you."
She looks at him, then skeptically goes over and opens the door. "We moved. Oh god we moved!" She steps out, looking out of the door at her flat.
