I put the last piece of clothing in my last suitcase,

"Are you sure you're doing the right thing?" My mother asked. I started zipping the suitcase, a thousand thoughts running throughout my head,

"Yes, I'm sure." I say, I was sure. Going back to America to visit my father would be good for me. "But I need to do one more thing before I go." I said, reaching for my phone and sending out a message

~Hey! Meet me at the cafe in 10? -Katie~

I put my phone in the back pocket and grabbed my suitcases. I turned to see my mother, she was crying and I felt terrible. I quickly walked up to her and engulfed her in a hug,

"Don't worry, I'll visit much more." I whisper.

"Maybe sooner than you think." She replied. I pulled away, confusion in my eyes. She smiled shyly as she lifted her hand to show me an enormous diamond ring on her left hand.

        "Wait... What-"

"I'm getting married!" She said, happiness radiating off of her. I smiled, hugging her again. "Charlie proposed last night and we don't want to wait long. Life is too short to spend it without the ones you love." She said. I didn't know if she wanted me to see another meaning behind her words, life is too short to spend it without the ones you love...

My heart thumped and my chest pained. I haven't seen Louis in a week, the day he visited me at the Old River. Everything I said was true, I wished he could be happy, and I was hoping he was.

I tossed my suitcases in the back of the car and gave my mother one last hug,

"I'm going to miss you." She whispered. I smiled,

"I'll be back," I replied, reaching down and feeling her ring. She smiled, and it was sincere.  My mother had finally found someone who made her happy.

                                                                                                                                                ~

"Hey!" I said as I sat in the very back corner of the cafe. I noticed those dark curls right away.

Harry smiled walking over to sit across from me and pulling off his sunglasses. He reached over and gave me a quick peck on the cheek,

"Hey, how are you?" He asked. I smiled,

"Good, I'm good." It was only half true. I was okay, though by far not good. "I knew you were visiting at Louis' house with his mom, and I wanted to see you one last time." I said. He furrowed his eyebrows,

"One last time?" He asked. I sighed,

"I'm going back to California." I said. He frowned,

"What? You can't." He stated. I took a sip of my coffee and stared at the table.

        "I have too, Harry."

"Why?" He asked. He seemed flustered.

"Because I need some time. Time to think things over  and get my life back on track." I explained. I wanted to find a job and quit living off my parents. Also, a job would take my mind off of Louis.

"Is this because of Louis?" Harry wondered, as if he could read my mind. I looked up into Harry's eyes, they seemed more blue than green at the moment.

"No." I lied. He raised his eyebrows, "Okay, maybe a little." I admitted.

"Katie don't leave just because of him."

"Harry you just don't understand." I blurted. He frowned. "I love him, he loves Eleanor. Do you think I could just sit around and watch the two of them while I'm heartbroken?" He shook his head,

"Louis doesn't love Eleanor, he loves you." Harry insisted. I just looked at him, my eyes watering because I knew it wasn't true.

"I have to go." I said, standing and putting money on the table. Harry stood too and wrapped his arms around me. I hugged back,

"When do you leave?" He whispered, rocking us back and forth. I hugged his waist tighter,

"My plane leaves in two hours." He stopped rocking and slowly pulled away.

"You're leaving today? Without even saying goodbye to the rest of the lads? Not even Louis-"

"They're all still in London, I can't." I stated. Harry reached down and squeezed my hand,

        "Louis isn't."  He said.

"I have to leave Harry." I say one last time. He hugged me once more before letting me go. He asked if I wanted him to accompany me at the airport, I just told him no; he would probably be mobbed by fans.

He then walked me to my car and told me he would miss me. I told him I would miss him too, and I begged him not to tell Louis I was leaving until I was already in California. He agreed.

Though when he walked away, I could've sworn I saw a smirk on his face.
