Picture of LausI can't believe it. Only one week, only five days until school is over! What am I gonna do?
I know it sounds weird, I mean, everybody loves summer. The sun, nice weather, chilling, no homework...But for me it's different. My summer time is always the same.
I usually spend July at home, in Boston. I hang out with my friends Kelly, Madison and Savanah. But here comes the bad part, August.
There's this village called Tradenans, near Boston. It's a beautiful place with sea and mountains. I like being there, but not for a whole month!
The thing is that in Tradenans there's nowhere to hang out apart from the beach and the mountain. Oh, and there's no one to hang out with.
Yep, I don't have friends at Tradenans.
Oh, not because I'm antisocial but because we are in the middle of nowhere.
That's it, in the middle of nowhere.
We have a big house, with a great pool and an awesome garden. But for a family of 6, it's really huge. That's why my entire maternal family spends summer with us, at the same house.
Yes, I share my Tradenans house with 20 more people. Well, I used to.
A few years ago it was pretty cool. We spent summer with our cousins. We were all so close and everything was so funny and perfect... But they grew up and now my family is the only one going to Tradenans so we have the whole mansion for us.
"Laus! Kelly is here!" That's my mom shouting from the kitchen.
Her name's Kirsten. She has blue eyes and blond short hair, we look pretty alike. The only difference between us apart from the age is that I have freckles on my nose and my hair is a bit longer.
She works as a music teacher at my school. Some people think it's weird to see your mom at school, but I'm used to it.
I grab my bag, put my piano music sheet and books inside of it and go downstairs.
"I can't believe you haven't even had breakfast!" Kelly tells me.
Kelly and I have been friends since kindergarten. Her blond hair is tied up in a ponytail, she is looking at me worriedly with her hazel eyes.
"Don't worry! We won't be late, it's 8:50 and school starts at 9:15 so there's still time" I tell her while grabbing an apple from the table and start eating it.
"Why are you always so everything-is-awesome and nothing-bad-will-happen when obviously Miss Judith is going to kill us?" Kelly tells me, almost shouting. Well, she's that way almost every Monday morning.
Judith is our math's teacher. When someone's late she gets crazy. Really, I heard she threw a book out of the window once because more than half of the class didn't arrive in time.
"Because if I weren't that way, we would be stressed all the time!" I answer.
"There's no need to be stressed but if we don't start walking, someone's gonna get really mad." Kelly looks like she is going to leave running out of the window.
"Bye mom, have a nice day!" I yell to my mom, before opening the door.
"Bye Miss Cohen!" Kelly says.
"Bye kids, I'll see you at school!" My mom saiys smiling at us.
