Prologue

I'm a good person, so why doesn't anyone like me?

Why do I have such bad luck.

Hi, I'm Alyson Parker, or biggest nerd/loser of the school.

As previously stated, I'm a good person, but yet I'm hated.

I believe that its because I'm a nerd, but people judge too much. I mean, yes I love reading and yes I do fairly well in school, but I'm not just your typical loser.

I have a fun, glowing side.

Its just undiscovered, because everyone judges a book by its cover.

I had to stop wearing my glasses because it made me look that much nerdier.

I was standing at my locker at the end of the day, putting away my last classes supplies, and grabbing the things I'd need for the evening.

Then, I was slammed onto the ground.

I looked up, my vision a little blurry from me hitting my head on the way down.

"Get out of my fucking way, bitch!" Jake, the head captain of the football team, exclaimed.

I started stuttering through an apology.

See, that was my problem.

I was apologizing for doing absolutely nothing.

He kicked me, "Next time move!"

The whole hallway started whispering and giggling, conversations filling back in as everyone carried on with their previous actions.

I sighed, I was used to this.

This was just another normal day for me.

I went home and sat in the big tree in my back yard, and stayed up there for hours.

It was peaceful, all alone, hidden where no one could see me, my nose in a book.

I pulled my phone out of my pocket to check the time.

It was ten o'clock at night.

I climbed down the tree, heading back to the inside of my home.

As I walked, I noticed something that caught my attention;

A dandelion.

It wasn't just a dandelion, though. It wasn't completely grown.

It was at that one point of its life, the point where children ached for nothing more than to blow it out.

Well, I guess deep down, I'm a child.

I walked over to the dandelion, thinking about my next action.

Why was I even trying this? It's not like it ever worked.

At this point it was in my hands.

Now, what should I wish for?

I decided on using the same wish that I always have, hoping for it to happen one day.

"I need someone. I'm tired of being treated in a way that I don't deserve. I need someone who cares about me, who will befriend me. I wish for someone," I whispered, blowing the dandelion away.

Every last bit of the dandelion fluttered away in the air, which surprised me. There was only one other time in my life when I was ever able to make the whole thing disappear in a single breath.

"Its too bad it won't ever come true," I sighed, walking into my house and calling it a night.
