After registration, mom came to my new "summer home" with me to help me unpack. Oh, yeah, you are probably wondering what the cabin, a.k.a. my summer home, looks like, right? Well, it is just "wonderful" with a roof that as patches on it, a door that was ripped off the hinges, and the "best" part a porch swing that has only one chain to hold it up! "Yay"!
So what do you think, pretty nice, right?, said mom in a calmer tone.
Yeah, if this was the only shelter I could get., I said.
"I know it is not the best place, but you will love it!", my mom said excited.
"Yeah right!", I mumbled.
"You get to experience the true wilderness!"
She was going to continue, but she got a text. So, that was her top priority.
"Oh, sorry sweetie, I got a text from grandma. She said she needs help moving in. I have to go, love you! Write me letters!, she said sadly and happily at the same time.
She hugged me and gave me a kiss and started walk away.
"Bye mom! See you later!", I said sounding happy to make my mom feel better.
When she was finally gone I went into the cabin and chose a bunk. I chose the one closest to the back of the cabin because the one near the door did not look safe. I got the top bunk and started unpacking. When I had everything unpacked a boy walked in. It was the boy with shaggy blond hair that was giving me the warning on the way in.
"Hey, I'm Jace! I am the bunk under you. I see that you had to sign in to the camp. I am sorry."
"Oh, nice to meet you! I am John. If you don't mind me asking, why are you sorry?"
"Oh, you don't know?"
"Know what?"
"This camp is dangerous!"
"What do you mean?"
"Kids go missing here and we never find them."
