Chapter 1
Annie's POV
Waking up from a deep sleep and feeling rejuvenated is the best feeling ever. Well it would have been if I hadn't remembered that today was HIS birthday. Kyle the boy i was best friends with when i was younger until he and his family moved out of his house just 3 houses away to the right from mine, all the way to france. His mom Jen, and his dad Jim never put the house up for sale claiming that in due time they would be back. They left on his birthday 8 years ago, his birthday also being my birthday. Today we would be turning 18, today would be two days until our senior year Aug. 27th.
I decided I wasn't going to let this ruin my 18th birthday so i got up and went into my joint bathroom showered, shaved my legs, and sang to the music emanating from my shower head. When I was done in the shower and had dried off I wrapped a towel around my head and headed to my giant walk in closet... what did I want to ware today? I eventually decided on a cute pair of high waisted jean shorts with my favorite captain america shirt and a pair of grey chucks.
Once dressed I head downstairs to be greeted by my awesome family! My younger brother max, he's 15 and my older brother Nash who is 21 as well as my parents. They were all grinning at me and wishing me a happy birthday but i couldn't bring myself to smile at them. Thats when Nash told me that he had the best birthday present for me but it had to wait until dinner tonight and thats when mom told us that tonight we were entertaining guests for dinner and to be ready by 6:30 on the dot.
With that said we all dug into the amazing breakfast mom had prepared... she is an awesome cook! "Thank you for breakfast ma, i think i'm going to go read in my room for a while" I told everyone so they would know to leave me alone. "Ok sweetie just make sure you are ready at 6:30 love you and happy birthday" my mother responded with a small smile. With that I retreated to my bedroom to mourn the loss of my best friend like i did every year for the last 8 years.
Kyles POV
Waking up this morning in my old bedroom which obviously had been repainted and redecorated since I was 10 just felt amazing. I couldn't wait till this evening I get to see Annie again I cant believe its been 8 years. I tried writing her on more then one occasion but I never could put into words how sorry I was that I had to leave or how mad I have been at my parents for all these years.
Moving back in two days ago and not being able to see abby was killer! She is my best friend... at least I hope she still sees me that way. When we were 10 and I made her the promise that I would at least be back for our senior year I didn't know I would be cutting it this close. She probably hates me for not staying in contact or something to that effect I just hope she will forgive me.
--------6:20 p.m.---------
My palms are sweating and I cant believe we just pulled in the Mason driveway. Its been so long since I have been here... yet minus a few plants and sculptures it all looks the same. My parents and my sister Rin get out of the car, I take a few deep breaths and then I followed suit and walked up the driveway to join them at the door. Rin rings the door bell and we all wait Nash comes to the door and answers it saying hello and hugging Rin and I saying its been too long or something I wasn't paying attention. Nash leads us to the formal living room and tells us to get comfortable and that Max and Annie were still getting ready.
"EEEEEEEEIIIIIIIIKKKKKKKK! AHHHH!!! SHHHHHIIIITTTT!" I here from upstairs and Nash, myself and my dad all run upstairs to find the most beautiful woman in nothing but a towel running from the bathroom and a small wolf spider scurrying out behind. Nash just laughs and says " really annie you are so predictable giving everyone a heart attack before we get to have some of mrs. Riggs Lasagna!" She peeks out from her room " Is it dead.... wait mrs. Riggs... as in... AHHHHH Kyle!" and the brilliant brunette now in a purple silk mini bath robe runs at me and tackles me to the ground. "I missed you so much! Your back!!! I cant believe it Frenchie is gonna be so excited!!" I just stared at her... I didn't know what to say. " I missed you soooo much annie you have no idea! Now go get dressed and we will talk more when you are fully clothed" I said after we stood up as I was trying to hide my boner.
"Nah come on in kyle its okay we are like super close its fine I don't care." and then my saving grace called" hey kyle can you come and help me and your mother set the table?" "sure thing mrs. Mason!" and then I ran downstairs.
