When the Leaves Fall

Chapter 1 As I walked outside to the sounds of sirens I knew something was wrong. Anna and I looked at each other with worried faces. Anna and I were scared and curious. To curious for our own good. So we ran towards the sirens. What we saw when we got there was truly horrific. Two of our friends, Katie and Carly, lay on the ground. Blood was oozing from the bullet holes. I could never un see that. "Noo!" I screamed salty tears already running down my cheeks. Anna had to hold me back, but I could see she was crying to. My tears blurred my vision as I screamed again and a police officer had to calm me down. Nothing could calm me down. I was scared, sad, and furious with whoever did this.

Chapter 2

I ran home with Anna close behind me. When we got to my house we ran up to my room. For what felt like an hour we stared at each other. The house was silent. Dead silent.

"Who would do this? Such an awful thing," I asked still looking at the floor.

Anna just ignored me. I heard the screen door slam shut downstairs. It was my mom.

"LUCIE!" She screamed, a hint of terror in her voice.

I ran downstairs, concerned. Once I got off the final step my mom squeezed me so tight.

"What's wrong mom?" I asked.

" I was driving home when I heard there was a murder in Anna's neighborhood. The radio said there were two girls about 12-13. I rushed home. And I'm just glad you are safe," my mom said all at one time it made me a bit dizzy to take it all in.

She stopped for a minute. She was frozen. Fear still in her expression.

" Where's Anna?" she asked slowly.

I knew what she was thinking. She thought wrong.

" She is fine. She's upstairs" I answered.

She stayed silent so I just creeped away. I joined Anna back up in my room.

"This is.... just terrible! who do you think did it?" I asked

There was dead silence.

" What are you thinking? I asked Anna.

She ran out of my door latched onto my hand. once we got to our destination, she went over to a girl and slapped her so hard it left a mark.

" What do you know?" she screamed.

" I don't know what your talking about", she said all sweet like.
