28- Faceless

Faceless

another broken conversation

with friends forgotten, memories lost

grasping at unwinding strings of hope

attempting to stay true

fate unravels, I see

the abyss stretches out

a snake ready to strike

laughing at your struggle to get away

hiding in the jungle I try to survive

the last of the hopeless, alone

without you, groping

at poisoned air

the world crumbles to dust as the herd stampedes through

running from the liars, the pillagers the hateful

searching for a land, safe

from the dangers of truth

everything so large in the child's mind

towering buildings touch the sky

grown-ups so tall, they don't understand why

too young too know, old enough to understand

hushed conversation grace the endless halls

whispers of promise, love, and hope

spoken between the sheets for all to hear

nothing secret, no matter how we try

another lost child hides from the dark

crying for mommy to save him

holding onto broken hope that someone will come

someone will come, they always do.
