Chapter 2

My stomach grumbled, again. "Ugh...!" I said weakly.

"Tori-chan?!" I looked up to see Hiyori.

"Hiyori?! Thank goodness you're here!"

"What are you doing here?! Aren't you going back home? It's late in the afternoon already!"

"Well...you see.." I explained to her why am I not 'home', my inheritance. and my dad..

"Oh my god!" She whispered, covering her mouth, "That's horrible..!"

"Yeah...I know."

"So, what are going to do now?" A male voice whispered to me.

I screamed and backed away to see Yato and Yukine behind me all along.

"Y-Yato! G-Geez, you scared me!" I stammered

"Where are you staying at?" Yato asked.

"A-At a hotel.." I stuttered.

"Alright, then it's settled!" Yukine said gleefully.

"Huh?" I asked, "What's settled?"

"You and your mom are staying at Kofuku and Daikoku's place from now on!!" He announced.

"H-Huh? Wh-Whuat? I can't do that. What if my Dad finds out?!" I stuttered nervously.

"He won't find out, trust us!" He assured.

Trust you guys? How can I trust you when I just lost trust in the person I used to love the most?

I paused, "Are you sure you're okay with this? Not that I don't like the idea but..."

"It's alright, I'm sure they won't mind. Besides..." Yukine looked over his shoulder to see Yato chatting with Hiyori.

He leaned in closer to me, "..I bet Yato's worried about you, Tori-chan.." I held my breath in surprise.

I didn't say anything. I just stood there, worrying not about my Dad but my mom. Because of her condition, I have to watch out for her 24/7.

"Okay.." I gave in defeat.

Everyone smiled at me and said, "Thank you, Tori-chan. You won't regret it!"

"I have to go to tell my Mom about this. I'll be right back." I told them.

"Do you want us to go with you? That way your mom will know who are you staying with." Hiyori volunteered.

I exhaled, as I approved since I'm too tired to argue back. We started heading towards the hotel.

I went to my room as I saw my mom, watching TV.

"Oh hi dear. I see you brought your friends along too."

"Mom, I.." I explained to her everything of what they told me.

"Kofuku? I haven't seen her for a very long time."

"You know her, mom?" I was surprised when she mentioned Kofuku's name.

Meanwhile, Yato, Yukine and Hiyori were checking around. "Oh, I almost forgot. This is Hiyori, Yukine and Yato. Guys, this is my mom." I introduced them to my mom.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Mrs. Holland." they said

"Likewise. Please make yourselves at home and relax.." My mom said with a smile, "I became close friends with her to be exact. It's been a long time. "

The trio stopped on what they're doing as their eyes landed on ours.

"There's something I don't see everyday. Care to enlighten us mom?" I raised an eyebrow, crossing my arms over my chest.

Who would've thought my mom, of all people, knew Kofuku, one of the the gods.

"Well.." She began, "It's a long story, but.."

I grabbed a chair, and sat beside my mom who was about to tell us. Yato was leaning on the drawers with his arms crossed while Yukine and Hiyori were sitting on the bed, attempting to listen. In fact, all of our attention went to my mom.

"Kofuku and I...are best friends. After all, " she paused, "...a god of poverty and youth can cooperate with the god of a minor moon, but...one who causes trouble needs another who can stop it. My full name is Angela Achelois Holland. Achelois literally means 'she who washes away the pain', and that's why I protected you, Tori, sweetheart."

We were all shocked from what she said, I can't believe it..

"I love you, mom." I said, tears spilling from my eyes, "and I'll help you, even from Dad. I promise.."

"I know you will.." I want to ask my mom more but I was so speechless of everything she had said.
