Chapter 1 - places
I pushed my school books to the floor and sat up. I hated everything and everyone. My life was just a whirl pool that took you to a harsh death. This was suppose to be the future. The time where the world began to come to peace. But, instead our country is falling apart. The United States no longer is united. Most people call it Land of Betray now. I don't blame them. Ever since president Carl Mann came to the office the world has gone haywire.
It just started with a promise. The promise of peace, that is. He said there would be no more wars and that we'd stay out of them for good. He promised jobs for everyone. Even if he had to make companies or new jobs, everyone would have one. The peace promise. More like the Lie Promise. Since then we've been at war for over 5 years now and he wants to change the government so he can stay in rule for as long as he can. People have rebelled. Some have even tried making a second revolutionary war, but failed.
Most have been saying for years that tomorrow was the end of freedom. But I thought it ended the day we elected the wrong man. So now, here i am in a strict uniform that everyone must wear. There's no such thing as being unique. From my perspective, this is already a communist country. Democracy is long gone. and we can't do anything about it.
Trying to stay positive is the hard part. Especially when being expressive is frowned upon. You're hated for every little unique thing you do. People want you to be the same as them. You can't be an individual.
"Abigail!" Dad called from downstairs. I pulled my hair back into the ponytail and rushed to the kitchen.
"Yes, dad?" I said staring at the floor.
"Uhm dinner.." He trailed looking at the table of pot roast.
"Oh okay." I sat down next to my sister Claire and my brother Ben. Ben picked at his food, like always. He never really had an appetite after mom died. My dad says its just separation anxiety, but I think there's more to it. My sister on the other hand scarped it down.
I finished and put my plate in the dish washer. "Abby, can you go outside and pick the vegetables?" My dad always had me doing something. I couldn't ever get time alone.
"Sure," I said rolling my eyes and walking into the damp air. I walked threw the over grown path my mom created when I was little for the garden. She had a green thumb, that was for sure. Dad tried keeping her passion alive but ended up getting handicapped in a war that he just doesn't do anything but maybe cook once and a while. I began digging up the potatoes.
"Ya want some help?" I looked up. A handsome boy stood over me. He had long black hair, but not to long. If you know what I mean. He was average, so to me, perfect height. His smiled was tender and his eyes where deep brown. I almost fainted.
"Uhm..." I couldn't speak.
"Haha don't answer. I'm volunteering." He got on his knees and began helping me. I just stared. "Oh sorry, my names Kyle. I moved in next door." He pointed to the right of me where his house was.
"Hi Kyle.." I stuttered, "I'm Abs or Abby or Abigail."
"Three names, eh? Well ill just call you Abs. That sound good?" His confidence was attractive. And I didn't understand why he was over here.
"Uh sure. Why are you over here?" I finally asked.
"I don't know. I need friends or something. And you seemed pretty cool." She stood up and wiped the dirt of his pants. I watched him.
"Oh," I whispered.
"Want to do something exciting?" I looked at with horror. Exciting?? I thought. There's something exciting to do! Are you kidding me??
"What??"
"Yeah. I know how to do a lot o things that'll get us in trouble, but not get caught at all. All you have to do is meet me out here at 12 am. Got it? Don't turn me down please. Cause... I trust you already," he said.
I bit my lip, "Fine. Lets do something exciting."
