My dad use to say that life is like a road map. A million intersections splitting into a million paths, each leading to a different destination. And your choices, he said, are the difference between a curving endless cloudy road leading to a dead-end, and a road surrounded by the wonders of nature, ending in your destination of choice. But now, sitting at this ridiculous, insanely uncomfortable hospital chair, I realize that sometimes the choices that others make have as much impact on you as your own, and that the curving endless road might take you to somewhere much more beautiful than you had planned. And as for the road itself? There might be a beautiful sky hiding behind those clouds, if you only look up.
